Plus the kids can climb all over everything! It is five miles from the highway (follow GPS as signs are limited) but it provides a great break for travelers (especially with high energy children). We arrived after the visitor center was closed, but simply filled out the form and put our money into the box for admission. So nice to be able to visit at our convenience.

The geology is interesting. Kansas is far more exciting than people give it credit for. These former sea boulders are fun to climb on and walk through. There are lots of chipmunks and lizards and birds and butterflies and wild flowers. It’s only a short drive off of I-70. Totally worth a visit. We paid $6.00 to visit. Self pay station.

It is amazing to see what Mother Nature does. There are very few places in the world that have rock formations like Rock City. People say that there is nothing to do in Kansas, but this is something to do that should not be missed. While you are taking an adventure in Kansas, be sure to check out Castle Rock, along with Mushroom Rock.

We stopped on a trip to get out and stretch. Great place to have lunch (there are picnic tables and some shade trees). The store was closed (it is only open seasonally). The place is only about 2 football fields in size - but really fun. Great big rocks and you are allowed to climb on them.

The fee was $3 for adults and .50 for kids.

We found this place by the advice of a guy in a coffee shop. He recommended it and it was a very unique stop. We couldn't find any pictures on the reviews we saw so I'll add some. It's one of the 8 natural wonders of Kansas. It is interesting rock formations.

I recently returned from several years in the South Pacific. When my dentist asked about my favorite place, I said, "Rock City." I try to make it out there at least once a week when I am around. I like seeing the seasonal changes as they swirl around the unchanging rocks. I love it that no one is uptight about kids (or adults) climbing on the rocks. Even after hundreds of visits, I keep discovering nuances of shapes and cracks and crevices that I don't remember ever seeing before. I remember looking at the rocks from a small plane and thinking that a giant left his marbles out on the prairie. Maybe I've lost my marbles, but I never seem to get tired of Rock City.

A natural phenomenon that stimulates lots of ideas from the family. I have taken my kids there several times for a nice relaxed day and a chance to explore some earth science.

Sorry, George02, but what a great place to explore our earth's geology! The gift shop had a free brochure explaining what these concretions are and how they came to be. Looking out over the Kansas terrain, you see flat land, but then.....there are these sandstone concretions popping up in an area about the size of a couple of football fields and you are amazed - how did they happen to be here, what are they, why aren't they anywhere else, how in the world??? For a mere $3, you are allowed the adventure of discovery, Kansas history, how rough the surfaces are, walking trails, picnicing in a gazebo and jaw dropping amazement. The only thing commercial about this site is the little gift shop and it was closed after Labor Day. There is still a little slot to deposit your $3. Great photo ops, great hide & seek, great day.

This was a cool place to see. The rocks look like they fell from space, gray and round like a basketball. You can climb on them. Some are as big as a house. People that operate the grounds are very informative and happy to answer questions. We sepnt about an hour there taking in the beauty. A must see attraction

Everyone must go here especially if you have adventurous and brave kids. When we were leaving my daughter said "this was the best day ever!". I can't believe I've lived in Kansas my whole life and have never been to Rock City. It has replaced Loch Lomond for my top magical place - No Kidding
