This memorial park is beautifully located by a small lake, and was a humbling experience to visit this location in paying tribute to the African American Soldiers who served their country with honor and courage; highly recommend this location if in the area.
Apart from the main statue of the mounted cavalry trooper there are others dedicated to the lineage and Medal of Honor recipients from both regiments. I also served with the 10th Cavalry so it is of significant personal interest to me.
This is a beautiful park and a wonderful tribute to the ninth and 10th cavalry of United States Army known as the buffalo soldiers.
It provides insight into the contribution to the Western expansion of the African-Americans. It’s well worth a visit. Enjoy.
