Much of the old fort buildings, grounds have been preserved. Love going there to explore. The fort is also the site of the Army's Diciplinary Barracks and the Command and Staff college for officers headed for the full colonel and above ranks.

A must see location for anyone who wants to learn about history. The Frontier Museum has an outstanding collection of Midwestern and military history items. The driving/walking tour is excellent.

If you've got young kids the lakes are a perfect place to take the little ones fishing. You don't need fishing licenses for them, sorry adults you need to get one. But they have blue hill, catfish, and trout in the lakes. So come on...More

This base has a home feeling that I haven't felt at any other base I've visited. Very historical and clean. If visiting you must go to the visitor's office to get a pass to enter the base. Your vehicle will be search which is expected.

Nice visit, attraction was not the site itself but selected memorials on the grounds. Nice museum on the installation where you can make a brief visit. It was difficult to secure clear information about what to visit while on the installation.

Ft. Leavenworth is a beautiful post with lots of history. It's worth taking a drive through just to see the old antebellum homes and, of course, the military cemetery. Be aware that you have to stop at a location just east of the entrance to...More

Fort Leavenworth is a beautiful place. There is more to do on post than there is in town. It is a quiet, think-tank setting where moderate to thin traffic makes for an easy commute, even at the busiest of rush hours. Starbucks, Charlie's Subs, and...More
