Dance classes for myself, my 5 year old daughter, and my 4 year old grandson
Oct 2018 • Family
The dance instructor complained about my grandson after 2 weeks. The dance director later told me the list of things they expect 3 and 4 year old children to do, which most little kids can't consistently do. The instructor made it clear my very energetic grandson wasn't welcome in her class. We are working on an acceptable refund right now. Parks and rec dance classes are cheaper. Don't take your little kids here for a dance class.

Small art space just off Mass St
May 2018 • Couples
This was a brief break out of the heat during our recent May trip to Lawrence. We went specifically for the special exhibit by Jenny Doores and Andrew Cho. While small, the room was filled with interesting pieces intermingling the works of the artists with Ms Doores whimsical and provocative figures, and the beautifully designed, delicate yet layered works by Mr Cho. While that exhibit has ended, we look forward to more samples of their talents in the future.

We enjoyed looking through the art from the high schools in the gallery. I have not yet taken a class from the art center but it is on my to do list. I like the facilities that I have had the opportunity to see through community events too.

Just So So

I have visited this center on many occasions. Most of the time I am attending a dance recital or other dancing venue. The stage and seating are fine but little access for disabled people. I find this surprising for a town like Lawrence. The art that is displayed is primarily local and, in my estimation, marginal at best. The building is adequate but has a rather cramped feel when waiting for events. It is fresh in look and clean.

Unusual exhibits

An unexpected place for such a small town. Lots of excellent exhibit space devoted to local artist for the most part and a theatre. This is a place with lots of classrooms and studio space. A learning the arts in a college town that values both learning and the arts

All art in one place
Jun 2015 • Couples
The Art Center has art galleries that have museum quality exhibits of the best of contemporary art in the area.
The Center is the art hub in Lawrence and a major mover in the local art scene.
They present concerts, a film festival, story slams, youth and family theatre presentations
The center also has classes for all ages in all 2D and 3D art fields, in addition to dance and theatre.
It is where art comes to life in Lawrence.
