One of Lawrence's treasures for parents of small ones

Recommended for ages 4-11. Good exhibits on the native biomes of Kansas and the plants and wildlife that make up the state.

I was a little disappointed. This is probably great if you are going with kids, but as I am an adult I felt like the exhibits and interactions weren't appropriate. The walking trail around it was tiny. In short this was not what I expected from a nature center. Again if you have kids it will probably work really well... More

The combination of outdoor nature trail/lake/forest and indoor displays is interesting. I appreciate that they focus on native flora and (mostly) fauna. The dioramas are dated and somewhat amateurish. The whole place could use dusting and some refurbishment/restoration. Some of the live species in the building are basically there only because they do rehabilitation, and belong in a zoo where... More

Nice Nature Center! My son loves the macaw I love the birds out back. I just feel sorry for them and wish they were free though!

I love Prairie Park. It's pretty and they have nice walking trails. I'm only giving it a 4-star because I got a tick once when I was there. LOL. Protect yourself from ticks!

A lovely venue for a family outing. Bring your walking shoes and make sure your little ones are not afraid of caged birds (a couple of theirs get a bit loud from time to time). Educational and interesting. Worth a visit.

Just east of town off of 23rd street you will find a very enjoyable nature area with a wide variety of flora and fauna to explore. It is easy to get to and worth the visit.

The boys and I have been visiting for seven years. The grounds are always well kept and interesting. The exhibit building, however, is another story. And this is not the fault of on site workers or volunteers. The interior is shabby, exhibits unkempt, dirty, aged, and stagnant. There is ample room for expanding the building, if the City of Lawrence... More

Great place to take kids on hot summer days and see several live native species of Kansas. Can have birthday parties there too.

I love bringing my kids here. There is so much to do and see! The Nature Center has some great exhibits with live animals, including an area in the back with owls, eagles, and other large birds. If it isn't blazing hot out like it has been this summer, take a walk around Lake Mary - the paths are paved... More
