Liberty Hall in downtown Lawrence is an interesting venue. A variety of activities are held at Liberty Hall from movies, to concerts, and can be reserved for receptions and private events. The movie theaters show current movies which frequently may not be shown in larger theater venues relatively close to Lawrence. Seating can be a little unusual ~ watch out... More

Liberty Hall is a real throwback in both architecture and services offered. With two movie theaters, a stage and video rental shop...it's simply the hippest theater around. The Art Deco interior and remaining remnants of what was once a real Hollywood style cinema make it a can't miss venue. Not to mention the indie flicks they show with classic movie... More

Liberty Hall is in the heart of the action on Massachusetts St and offers a variety of activities from live shows to old movies. Nice place for an outing.

The Free State Festival held annually in Lawrence, Kansas, sponsored a concert and question and answer session with Kris Kristofferson on his 80th birthday. A screening of one of his films was held late afternoon in the renovated theater/cinema, which was then turned into a sit-down concert hall for this occasion. Liberty Hall is a wonderful gem, in the middle... More

Great venue! Very intimate experience, not a bad place to watch in the whole place. Ceiling is cool as well. Get there early to get a good seat on the balcony as its all GA. You have standing room on the lower level and seats on a balcony on second level

I attended a viewing of an Indie film, "The Lady in the Van" at this facility last week. It is a theater in a very old building, but the seating was comfortable. Pop and water were available as was candy and popcorn. They don't mind if you bring in a cup of coffee from the coffee house next door. Overall... More

I went to see Arlo Guthrie at Liberty Hall in February of 2016. The (over two hour) concert was great fun and I enjoyed it very much.. Liberty Hall is certainly a historical treasure, however it really needs some help. Lots of wall damage is visible, the floors need to be refinished, and there is obvious neglect to multiple areas... Liberty Hall is in downtown Lawrence, where it was originally the town Opera House back in the 1800s. It is the only place in town where you can see first class movies. Here is were you see indie films, foreign films, and other cinema that doesn't come to the standard chain movie theaters. The are two screens. The upstairs screen... More

Whether you're checking out the latest indie/semi-indie film or attending a local event, Liberty Hall is a fun place to spend an evening. We've seen two movies, two concerts, a live recording of a radio show, and decorated Christmas trees at Liberty Hall - all events have great service, are in a fantastic atmosphere (check out the ceiling in the... My dear hubby and I enjoyed a Valentine's Day showing of that wonderful love story, "Princess Bride." Neither of us had ever seen it on the big screen and it was such a fun experience to share with other movie-goers. The balcony was full of folks who were ready for a little nostalgia with this classic adventure, drama, love story... More
