I think Lawrence is considered the midwest. I can't think of a better place for a road trip than Lawrence. The downtown is Mass St and the nearby blocks. Plenty of restaurants and bars for entertainment. Don't miss Dusty Bookshelves or the movie theatre.

Lake Scott State Park, Quivira Wildlife Refuge or Cheyenne Bottoms or both but we liked Quivira better, maybe the salt mine, Monument Rocks you have, also Rock City. It's a beautiful state
