This park and Zoo are a surprising find in rural SE Kansas. Independence is to be congratulated in still maintaining such a fine family and visitor friendly facility. The preserved ex Santa Fe steam locomotive is an added attraction.

Can't beat a free zoo! It is stroller friendly except for 1 spot back down by the bear. Go to the "bathroom" by the parrots to see the snake.

Great little drive thru zoo and walking animal sanctuary. Kiddy area to play and sit in shade. Carousel and train runs on weekend. Currently constructing a memorial for veterans.
