Wonderful look back at all the decades in our local area. Life in Kansas through the dustbowl and earlier settlers is facinating. The displays are very interesting, interactive and professional. Great for anyone.

Garden City is a look back in a different time in America. The museum deplicts and cronicles the history of the area and the growth of the town and Southwest Kansas in general. The Finney County Historical Society and the Museum folks do an excellent job of rotating displays that tell the story of Garden City and how it got its name to all the tremondous growth in the last ten years. The Garden City community and Finney County in general boast a greoup of friendly, proud, and hard working people who have a history of helping their neighbor and working together. The museum will take you through this history and is worth taking a day to visit. While you are there, take some extra time and vist the Lee Richardson Zoo which is right next door.

Love, love, love this museum!

Located right next to Lee Richardson Zoo, this is an extremely well done museum. They have rotating galleries and long term exhibits. It is truly designed to keep people interested in the wide variety of history that it covers. There is even a childrens area where they can play with Legos (ask at the front desk). The gift shop is well stocked with local lore as well as general historical gifts.

A free museum but a small donation is accepted if you would like to do so. It is not very large, but worth the time as they have a lot of information, photos and history of the area.

Had a great time at this museum. Was visiting a friend who has not yet been, and as I love museums, suggested we go. Very friendly staff, interesting artifacts, and overall very enjoyable. Would recommend if in the area.

Museum has great displays of Finney County even before humans roamed the area. Mammoth tusks are on display. Has a large collection of Indian arrowheads, and a whole lot more.

Good Source for Local Information/History

We visit the Museum from time to time and have enjoyed each occasion to do so. Located in Finnup Park, there is plenty of parking spots available. The museum can be visited free of charge but does accept free will donations. A nice place to review Garden City and Finney County history. There is a small gift shop onsite. Definitely a good way to spend an hour or two.
