The gardens are divine, really beautiful, The formal gardens are arranged into beautiful, almost maze like rooms but the most spectacular was the meadow which is randomly planted with assorted colour tulips. Never seen this before in a meadow, stunning. But when we came to tour the house the woman giving the tour was very stroppy and self important. She... More

Beautiful rural setting for a Christmas Traditional fair but day completely spoilt by the inappropriate rudeness displayed to stall holders by the organisers when they choose to leave slightly early . A great shame .

A lovely, privately owned, little gem of a moated manor house and stunning gardens in beautiful countryside, down some very challenging lanes - but it's worth the challenge for an afternoon of pure delight - and there's a great tea room and plant shop too.

The gardens are fascinating and the cake & lunch we had were good although on the expensive side. Sadly at the very end of the visit the resident, very friendly labrador /spaniel dog lunged at one of the ducks (probably trying to retrieve it). I was aked to hold the dog by one of the staff while she fetched the... More

The tours have to be booked in advance, I seem to remember,so make sure you have, I did wonder if we were ever going to find this place - thank goodness for satnavs. Lots of very narrow wending country roads to get there, miso allow plenty of time for your journey. But it was all worthwhile. The house is really full... More

We live near Cothay and were looking forward to visiting today, having not been able to spare enough time to do justice to both house and garden before. We arrived at 11.15 am and parked in the disabled parking space. We had noticed the comment on the website that the house tour includes specific difficulty such as uneven floors and... More

Please be aware that this is not as Chris appears to think a period Garden. The manor house is Tudor. The Gardens were designed in the 1920s. They are perhaps one of the best examples of 'garden rooms' I have come across in England. These gardens are on a par with Hidcote and Sissinghurst but without the crowds. If you... More

We arrived on one of the Open Sundays in time for the house tour. What a little gem! The house has been lovingly restored but not in a Homes and Gardens type of way. The guide was very entertaining and extremely knowledgeable without being overbearing. This is a real gem of a place and the gardens are delightful. You can... More

This is an inspired garden, with many unusual plants and plants used in new and interesting ways. The big pots at the back of the house are delightful - frothy and still going strong in mid-August which is something of a feat. Mrs Rob took a great deal of trouble to answer our questions and her helper, Sally, has customer... More

Just look at Chris' other reviews and the places he has visited. His lack of appreciation of his surroundings is astounding; no wonder he thought it was horrible as he obviously does not see the depth of quality throughout Cothay Manor, its contents and integrity. Judging by his attention to detail - he cannot even write 'Disney World' correctly -... More
