Sophiapolder nature reserve. Bird paradise
Come to the foot ferry, operated by volunteers of Zuid Hollands Landschap on wedenesday, Saturday and sunday between 12.00 and 17.00 Cross the river and land on the sophiapolder island. 80 hectares of nature. A reserve for birds. Peregrine falcon, hobby, spoonbill, nile goose, osprey, kingfisher, seagull, kazark, shoveler, great crested grebe. You can see them all. The island is flooded daily at high tide. sometimes even a sea eagle will come over from the Biesbosch. In the area a beaver has its stronghold. you can spot it at dawn.…
