great little area to walk around and enjoy an afternoon. Spent time here with family, dined at several local joints and enjoyed everything. Unique sites to see and friendly environment. Great vintage shops for clothing and even a few antiques.

San Fran to Death valley Junction in Late Jan, early Feb (8 Replies)
Hi there fellow travel gurus. I am spending four weeks in Cali and although I have done the drive from San Fran, through June Loop Lake then onto Death Valley and up to Nevada, I haven't done it in late January, to the first week in Feb. Is it snowing through there? Anything I should know about regarding road closes? I know June Loop Lake gets snowed in, so not really going through there - just going to hit up Death valley for the marathon. Thanks in advance

Tioga Pass is closed. You'll have to head south to Bakersfield, then east over the Tehachapi mountains via Highway 58 to reach Death Valley.
Death valley in August - trip report and some notes (9 Replies)
My family (2 adults, 2 pre-teens) have just come back from a holiday to California which included two nights in Death Valley. We made this trip after seeking lots of advice from this forum so I thought I would produce this trip report. I will say straight away that we had a brilliant time, it is an awe-inpiring place and I am completely satisfied that it is perfectly possible to have a wonderful holiday at this time of year, provided you plan, take precautions, and are realistic about your...More

One-way routes in DV? (2 Replies)
Hi: I am trying to get as much info as possible to use my little time there efficiently and to avoid surprises. I'll be driving from Mammoth Lakes to LV via DV (entering at Panamint Springs and exiting at Death Valley Junction. That's the 190, isn't it? And that will be in August! Some posts talk about one-way roads inside the park. I guess they are there to take you to some specific attractions. Which are those? Thanks, Robert.
