This was so much fun!! Give it a try
Jan 2020
This was so much fun!!!! We called ahead and reserved a spot for two of us on Thursday at 5:00. We had about 15 minutes of rules and instruction by our coach Anna. Then we started throwing! We both did pretty good on hitting the target and making it stick to the target. After the second throw, I said our bodies are going to hurt so bad tomorrow. It is somewhat physical, but not terribly so. If you're concerned about being to old.....peaschhha! We were two women in our mid to late 50's chucking that ax and making it stick!! We got a few bulls eyes. We spent time getting to know Anna our coach. She was great by the way. We now want to go purchase our own axes and bling them up and make some tutus and get a picture taken in the viking boat.

There were two of us, so it was simple. One (bad hip) used the white board to keep score. The other one (bad at math) ran after the ax. We made a great team there. We played three games of 10 throws highest score wins. I won two games!! We re threw every throw that landed on the floor. Cause we were there to hit stuff and make it stick. you can play what ever game you want and have your own rules.

Children can do this as well. They said they have a 7 year old on a league and and 8 year old regular.

The place has a viking them. Don't panic when you go to the rest room. Look at the pictures and you will figure it out. They were clean and they have real paper towels. I loved the restroom decor. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

There must be about 8 throwing cages with 2 targets each. I'm going on memory here and well that's not always reliable. They serve pop and light snacks. You can bring in beer and wine, no hard liquour. I brought a couple Mike's hard lemonades. I think you can bring your own food in as well.

$20 an hour for throwing. That was all we could muster up anyway. They have a rewards program. If you are paying with credit card, it pops up on the screen after you approve your signature. I missed that screen and was told that they couldn't add my time to my rewards since I skipped that step. that really kind of irritated me. So remember to ask about rewards before you pay so you know how to get the rewards.

Tips:
Call ahead and see if you can reserve a spot.
Pack a couple drinks and some snacks. Cause why not drink alcohol and throw axes. Use common sense....it's in the rules.
Stop and look at the restroom pictures so you make a wise decision.
Listen to your coach......pick Anna if you can. She would cheer when we hit the bulls eye.
Have fun, don't worry about what other people might think or if you can do it. Just give it a shot.
A few hours later do some stretches for your arms. I'm waiting for the sore muscles.
There is some bending over required if your ax lands on the ground. Don't wear see through leggings. :o)

Lost a star because they couldn't add on to my rewards a minute after I paid.

Great activity on weekends

We took our 4 sons (ages 8,10, 12, 15) here and within the hour, each of us had gotten at least one bullseye. They were thrilled. The ambiance was unique, the place was packed with groups of mostly men, we snacked on the finger food that we brought, and rang a bell for each bullseye.

Break up the monotony and go to Ironside Axe Club. Great place for all ages. Walk in an amateur and leave... well probably still an amateur, but maybe with an ego boost. BYOB (beer and wine).

We had a group of 5 adults and 4 kids(12-14) and had a great 2 hours of throwing. Our teacher was fun & professional and great with the kids. He brought other things to our group to throw and also taught us a couple of games to play. They have $1 cans of pop or you can bring in your own drinks. Other than being $35 a person for 2 hours, we would do it more often! Will watch for deals and coupons for sure!
