Great park! I can see why it's reviewed so well. Many slides of different levels and types. I turned into a kid again for a while!
Wave pool was busy, as expected, and lazy river is always a relaxing experience.
Entrance line moved fairly quickly, although I didn't realize the extra pass I bought for a guaranteed spot also doubled as a fast pass around the line!!
Park has a slushie/adult beverage bar which was visited today :)
Restroom are convenient to the wave pool and fairly well cleaned. Changing area only had curtains on 2 of about 6 stalls. Staff did a wonderful job of keeping tubes and life vests organized and sanitized.
Overall a great visit and would absolutely come again!

My family discovered a really nice water park last weekend. It's called "The Lost Island" and is located in Waterloo, Iowa just south of I-20 off of Hwy 218. Its rides are comparable to that of some of the larger, nationally-ranked water parks we've visited, but on a smaller scale that is appropriate for its location in eastern Iowa. There's a wave pool, a lazy river, kid's areas, enclosed tube slides, and the more traditional no-mat-needed bare-back slides. A day pass was very reasonably priced, the park was clean and well-kept and we really had a blast. The only drawback is the early closing time - 6:30 pm in the summer is too early!

My wife and I just visited Lost Island July 8, 2005. We have been to other large national waterparks and were skeptical about even trying Lost Island. The waterpark doesn't have the number of slides that other larger midwestern parks have, but I am so glad we gave it a chance. There is enough here to keep kids/adults of all ages happy for the day. There is ample close-in parking. Plenty of seating close to the wave pool, which is very nice for this size of park. The Lazy River has enough length and current. The tube slides actually surprised us in terms of speed, very nice. The body slides could have more zip, but they were still nice. The staff was very attentive as to what was happening around them and very friendly. The food in the park was reasonably priced. There is a large shopping center not far from the park that has anything you want for dining before/after. You can exit and come back to the park, so many people have picnic's in their vans etc.

Everything is in pretty close proximity, so you don't really have to walk around forever. People tend to grab lounge chairs near the wave pool immediately and reserve them with their towels, so you might want to get there early if that is where you want to congregate for the day. If you can't get away to the larger waterparks, I'd definitely give this park a chance if you live in Iowa.

went in the summer of '02. admission was pricy, and there were few slides. (2 new slides have been added since my trip.) I'd say this...remember, you live in iowa. that being said, it's a great park.
but if you have the time on your hands, drive somewhere else in the midwest for a GREAT park elsewhere. but to stay close to home, it's great for that.

the day my grandchildren were there they closed an hour early, at 530p.m. I thought $18.50 was a little high for children 10 years and younger and the same price for adults. I wouldn't have minded paying $25.00 a person, if they had included the minature golf and car track. all in all, it was a little high.

I am a life guard at lost island water park. I have the joy of coming to work everyday, with a smile on my face. It is awesome, people love it. The new slides added this year make it a must see when in Iowa.
Also new slides will be added throughout the next few years, so keep coming, and enjoy the day... ;)

Our family of four (kids are 7 and 4) absolutely loves the park. We visited about 2 or 3 times last year and are looking forward to this seasons. Very clean and kid friendly. Closing time of 6:30 pm is too early for the summer.

I was seriously injured on the Tangerine bowl ride. the manager told me not to worry they had good insurance, and the owner's son told me "if I left on my own and not in the ambulance they would not be responsible for anything. the eater park has since settled with our insurance company with a personal check but has NOT reimbursed me for any things. In fact they have told me they will call me and have not done so. I will never return or suggest going there to anyone.

This will be our company's 3rd year going to Lost Island Water Park, the attendance goes up and up every year due to the word of mouth on how much fun it is!!! What a time saver for me, no more worries about where to have it and what equipment to rent for like tables, tents, equipment for the children, etc. The Lost Island is safe and relaxing for all ages. I noticed parents could relax while their children were being watched closely by supervised life guards and staff. It's Great!!!!!! Take your staff on a break a cool break! They will thank you for it.

We live in waterloo and get passes every year.
Pros: The park is very clean and the staff is well trained. I've also never had a problem leaving my bag and towels sit on my chair. Sides are amazing something for everyone when my daughter was 2 she started going on the big yellow family slide. Rollercoaster ride is a must.

Cons: The baby area is dangerous I never let my kid play there the slides don't have enough water at the end to save the kids from hitting some part of there body on the cement ( they have put little blue pads on the ends but they slide right off of them) I've seen this happen numerous time.
The food isn't bad priced, but if you don't eat right at 12 when it's busy expect your food to taste like it's been sitting for 20/30min under a hot light and the kids running the food area not the happiest;/
Also stop having the lifeguards run if you don't want the kids to run!!!
