Be prepared to be AMAZED. No walking, You ride on a trailer with seats. The tour is narrated and they know their stuff. The narrator is is a former employee. NO pictures allowed. Will ask you to deposit your phone with an employee before the tour begins,so best to just leave it in your vehicle.Very interesting and informative.

This was a great tour. I would suggest taking a seat toward the front of the tram so you don't miss out on some of the things the tour guide points out.

Whenever family is visiting, we take them on this tour. Everyone loves it--young, old, male and female. Knowledgeable tour guides (often retired employees) and friendly people. The plant is huge and after a short movie, they take you around on a motorized train.

It was an interesting tour. It would have been much more understandable if the tour guide had focused, and realized that some of us have NO back ground in farm machinery or factories.... Keep it simple

This was one of the better factory tours we've been on anywhere. The tour was given by John Deere retirees that really knew every inch of this factory. Great tour for young and old alike. The tour starts with a short video then on to a tram pulled by, of course, a John Deere tractor. This tram makes its way... More

We were passing through Iowa on a recent RV trip, and saw this tour mentioned in a AAA Tour Book. The tour began with a short and very interesting video, then we were taken out to the factory floor. We were given safety glasses and radio headsets, which were tuned to the tour directors microphone. I thought this was a... More

It was so interesting to see how a tractor is put together from start to finish. The tour guides were very knowledgeable (former employees) and could answer any questions people had. Interesting to hear some of the differences in equipment requirements for overseas products as opposed to those sold in the USA. Riding the tram and having headphones to hear... More

I spent 36 years, working for the diesel engine facility of John Deere, but had never toured the tractor assembly factory. It was very well done. The introductory movie was good and the tour guide and driver showed us exactly how they put those huge tractors together. It's amazing how many different versions they build, based on the country and... More

We were going to be passing through Ottumwa, Iowa and decided to call John Deere that morning to see if a tour could be arranged. They graciously called us back and agreed to allow us to come for the late morning tour. It worked out great and the tour was given by a very nice newly retired former employee of... More

This tour has been on our radar for years and we finally made it. No disappointments here from the huge free parking lot to the clean, beautiful facility. Nice people work here to make the tour enjoyable. There is so much to see and they have it really well thought out from start to finish. I am glad we went... More
