This is a lovely place if you like outdoors activities. you can take a bike and ride to the castle or just walk from Bearsted Train station. you can also drive and park the car around there and take a short walk.

The place is ideal to walk a dog, or do a picnic, the views to Bearsted are lovely, most of the people take a kite because up of the hill is very windy.

The castle mostly in ruins is from 1200s once upon time looked fab according to the descriptions.
Is a free attraction, worth it to do it on a weekend.

Google Maps told us that we were just 400 meters or 11 minutes walking distance from the Turnham Castle (we were staying at the Black Horse Inn), so we set out for a walk. 30 minutes later we still didn’t see the castle. We accidentally bumped into it, or actually into its remnants, on the way back to our hotel. Beautiful views (still better from the top of the hill), but not much to see apart from this.

Very disappointing, nothing to see. Pile of old stones as a small part of a wall. Surrounding countryside makes for pleasant walks.

This castle is located at the top of the North Downs, just across from White Horse Country Park. A few information boards are dotted across the site which gives good educational value, and some good views can be seen from the top of the hill.

Parking is just offsite, on the side of the road.

Lovely place to take a walk or just to enjoy the view over Thurnham and below is the lovely Black Horse Inn where you can enjoy a meal or a drink after a nice refreshing walk in the surroundings. And there a some small pieces of the Historic leftovers of the old Castle there aswell.

Pleasant short walk. Nice views. Steep access with lot of steps. Would be lethal in the wet. Not for anyone with disability.

Easy enough to get to from Detling Hill. I parked at White Horse country park. Thurnham castle is a short walk from the car park with some great hilltop views along the way.
There aren't much ruins left to see but worth a look in my opinion.
