This is a lovely place if you like outdoors activities. you can take a bike and ride to the castle or just walk from Bearsted Train station. you can also drive and park the car around there and take a short walk. The place is ideal to walk a dog, or do a picnic, the views to Bearsted are lovely, most of the people take a kite because up of the hill is very windy. The castle mostly in ruins is from 1200s once upon time looked fab according to the descriptions. Is a free attraction, worth it to do it on a weekend.

Easy enough to get to from Detling Hill. I parked at White Horse country park. Thurnham castle is a short walk from the car park with some great hilltop views along the way. There aren't much ruins left to see but worth a look in my opinion.

Great for a look around for 30 minutes or so. The views are breathtaking in the surrounding area so worth a visit for that if nothing else.

This castle is located at the top of the North Downs, just across from White Horse Country Park. A few information boards are dotted across the site which gives good educational value, and some good views can be seen from the top of the hill. Parking is just offsite, on the side of the road.

Not sign posted but google maps did a good job of finding it. There is a small lay-by for 2 cars. There is not much left in terms of Stone work but the information boards give a good idea what the castle was like in the Middle Ages and the views out for miles over the Kentish Countryside are fantastic.
