About
This agricultural destination in Kundasang is set against a splendid backdrop with stunning views of Mount Kinabalu. Walk by the cows grazing freely in the pastures and enjoy the crisp fresh air. Make your way to the barn, where you can observe the milking process and feed young calves. There’s also a petting area with cows and goats and an assortment of dairy products like gelato and cheeses, baked goods, and the freshest milk straight from the source. Bring appropriate clothing for the chilly conditions, and book tickets ahead online, as walk-ins are no longer entertained. – Tripadvisor

We bought our tickets online (they say no walk-ins when I called). For those with MyKad it’s RM5 per person (we got the 8am-11am slot). International passport holders are RM10 each. Got there 8:30am so we missed the milking process (view from a glass room). Later found out from staff it’s 5am-8am only, which puzzles me, since when we purchased the ticket one of the highlight was to watch the milking. Farm has 2 barns. But they are closed off from visitors. Says on the sign to be reopened but no date was given. My highlight was the Agro Activity Pen and the gelato station LOL. The chicken and beef pies are great too! We also love the chicken “popcorn”. Can’t leave the farm without a yoghurt gelato (the natural flavour was really Delilah with coco crunch topping). Perfect treat on a hot afternoon. At the pen they have cute calves where you can purchase fresh grass and bottled milk to feed them. You can’t help but look at those lovely eyes and pink noses, you wanna keep buying the milk bottles for feeding! Grass at RM1 a bundle and milk at RM1.50 each “shot”.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 17, 2023
- Chow ESingapore, Singapore250 contributionsMilk Farm with Fantastic Mountain ViewsThe mountain view with the cows grazing were fantastic! It was definitely a very lovely view, but alas the q was quite long for cars to go in. Had to pay RM5 each for our rental car. Parking lot was rather small also, so a friendly tip was to go early to avoid the busload of tourists. Try the original yogurt, original milk and choc milk, Sabah Tea, coffee and croissants, but prices are also higher than usual. The farm dont allow anymore milking session so all we did was to go to a small cramped milk, to pay a small sum of money for grass and milk bottle to feed the cows. It was rather a good experience.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 8, 2023

We had great time there. Love the fresh milk, cappuccino and chocolate gelato we had at the cafe near the entrance. Takeaway Desa boxed chocolate fresh milk which is the best chocolate milk I ever had. We would like to special thanks to our local driver Jack who drove us up there with his fren and provided very good service being our tour guide cum photographer, he is a very friendly and fun guy with good knowledge of kk travel info, anyone who engage a driver in kk we would highly recommend him (Jack ~ Whatsapp 012-843 5750)Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 15, 2024
- HudsonmccrawVirginia Beach, Virginia4,102 contributionsLoved this placeWhat better way to enjoy the countryside of Sabah than to visit a dairy farm where you get to feed the cattle there and enjoy fresh milk and ice cream? This is what we experienced at Desa Dairy Farm. Being able to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and lush green scenery surrounding the l farm was quite something. We were also able to enjoy delicious ice cream(or frozen yogurt), milk, and yogurt made from scratch right from the cattle they raise on this farm. There are also opportunities to visit the grounds of the farm and feed young cattle milk and vegetation. Hard to top that, and anyone visiting rural Sabah owes it to themselves to visit Desa Dairy Farm.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 31, 2024

- Sid5515Bangi, Malaysia1,065 contributionsDairy Farm with Majestic Kinabalu ViewThe car park are quite limited if you arrive late. The view of Mount Kinabalu were fantastic but that's depend on the weather conditions as sometimes the mount was hidden behind the clouds. As a dairy farm, you can buy and try their milk and yogurt, where other foods items also sold. There are also other things that can be look after such as cow feeding and flower gardens around the farms.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 28, 2024

Online booking caused a lot queue at the entrance because visitors was unaware. There was ice cream, yoghurt, milk, cakes and pies sold at the main building. The odour of cows' urine n motions was not a pleasant smell at 1st impression.

Located in the highland area in Kundasang. Literally a mini New Zealand in Sabah.
Pros: Beautiful scenery, kinabalu mt, green prairie, cold fresh air.
Cons: Might smell some odor from the cow's faeces, but that completely normal for me, because we're at the diary farm!
There also a selling diary product, which is famous with their fresh milk, yogurt & gelato.
Tips: to aviod long queue and sold out, recommand to purchase the ticket online via the official website which iw only cost MYR5/adult.

Worth the 2.5 hour trip, amazing scenery, well maintained farm with a lovely park next to it. Cow feeding was fun, the kids loved it! But be warned, especially during peak season or school/public holidays. It is swarmed with tourists and school kids, they come in bus loads! The farm facilities cannot accomodate the large crowds, i.e. toilets, sitting areas, cafeteria. Another highlight of the farm is their products. The queue for their Desa Gelato was so long, took us almost 1 hour since they have only 1 machine that churns out a few cups at a time. Never have I queued that long for a iced dessert, but alas we wanted to try freshly made yogurt gelato straight from the farm. Taste was good, amount was subpar. Due to the bad queue, we ended up late to Poring Hotsprings and it was closed by the time we reached there. Disappointed, we headed back to the city, went to Suria Sabah Mall where we found out there's a Desa stall right in the mall's foodcourt..no queues, same taste, better cup serving! Felt so cheated with the loss of time queuing at the farm, if only we knew they have the same milk products in the city too, same gelato machine even. TIP: if the farm's gelato queue is too long, skip it! It's not worth it..just get it from the city's malls.. Note to Desa: Add more gelato machines to accomodate the crazy peak days queue.

Time wasted here. There was a requirement to do online booking before heading to the farm. For those that are not aware, they have no option but to do the online booking on the spot before they can go in. It created a massive jam because there is only 1 entry point whether you did your online booking or not, you are required to queue together with those that need to do the online booking on the spot. You can imagine the number of cars, insufficient parking spots and no traffic controller. So you have to park far away and walk about 1km. There is no proper signage on where to go or activity guide. You just follow the crowd. You walked to the barn to discover no goats or cows in it. There is no activity for the day and people are not informed at all. If there is some signage on the website or at the entrance people would be able to make an informed decision about their visit to the farm. We are paying an entrance fee and wasting our time queuing for nothing. Imagine those with little ones and mobility difficulty. Management needs improvement.

Interesting to have a cattle farm in the tropics. Pleasant and scenic, but don't expect to see many cattle roaming the pastures. Most of them are in functional concrete barns with only a few out in the slopes probably for "show" for visitors. Yoghurt was very good. Cheese and fresh milk were good although a lot less creamy than what you would find in NZ or Australia farms

It’s a good experience to visit if you stay at Kundasang. You have to go at the right time before the breast feeding time starts. You can see the cows queue up and go to the stations and wait for breast feeding in orderly manner.
Also you need to try the ice cream, nice!!

Hi. Are there enough parking lots? Will be coming over on the 22nd november. Hows the weather over at kundasang? Wet or cold? Cheers
Written November 17, 2019
There are someone to direct you for the car park station . Not really a car park lots , it wheels on those sands and stones surfaces . Need to pay for entry fees . Sturdy and tough cars are recommended to drive up the hills , Single lane only when drive up kundasang. U can stop half way up for toilets breaks and some souvenirs purchases. Really good buy and value for $ . Weather is good and air is fresh up the hill .

I'm traveling and Staying in Central Business District area, do any grab or Uber drive there? what is the estimate price?
Written March 11, 2019
Grab is little pricey. There are a few option, rent a car@motorcycle,take a package tour from hostel.
Motorcycle a little dangerous because of road condition.
Good luck in your trip 👍

Hi,What is the best time to come to these place? Does it usually a very long queue early in the morning?
Written November 13, 2018
Late morning and early afternoon is fine. There were a few visitors and tourist group but the place is big enough so it won't be crowded.
