It is a cute little house and gift shop. The 5 rooms upstairs and downstairs are done up in the time frame of her birth. The hostess was full of information on the history of the site. If you are a fan, it is well worth seeing.

A very nice place to visit and see where this brilliant young writer grew up. Lot’s of history and memories. Most enjoyable. Save about 20 to 30 minutes to see all of the house. Two thumbs up. Paper is from 1885!

This is a great stop for any fans. The staff are friendly and you get a look into her life and lots of information you won't hear anywhere else.

This was my last stop so I probably had information overload but I actually learned some new facts in speaking to the young lady at the front. Great representation of the vastness of LMM works displayed. I purchased the second volume of her journals here since I've enjoyed the first volume. They will stamp the book as purchased at the birthplace- a nice keepsake mark! Very knowledgeable staff that sound enthusiastic about the material even though I'm sure they've told it too many times to count. House looks tiny from outside but seems bigger inside!

This is a small, period home, with Lucy Maud's wedding dress and some other memorabilia. I'm glad the price was included in my Anne of Green Gables package, because I would not have wanted to pay to just see it. If you are an avid Anne fan, it might be a must see. We saw what we wanted in about 15 minutes. There was a food truck parked across the street that had some of the best french fries I've ever had. They were authentic PEI mud fries.

A great little tour that made our visit to PEI more interesting. The house if filled with lots of information about Lucy Maud Montgomery. You will learn things about her that you did not know.

Not much to see in this quaint little house, but adds context to this well known author's life. The highlight of the visit was the tour guide, whose knowledge of the author exceeded those at other Anne of Green Gable locations.

A great little museum - had a wonderful 10 minute talk from one of the ladies working there who explained a bit about Lucy Maud’s history in Cavendish and in the house. A must stop for Anne fans!

My partner and I made the LM Montgomery Birthplace the very first stop on our “Anne of Green Gables Journey.” Because we’re both history buffs, stopping at the authoress’s birthplace made perfect sense for historical context reasons. After all, if you want to get a real fix and feel for who LM Montgomery was – and how she became inspired by her homeland to create the memorable ANNE books – then both viewing and learning about the place of birth is a must and practical starting point.
We had arrived shortly after the birthplace/museum opened, so it wasn’t anywhere near crowded, thus allowing us to explore the small Victorian-era home virtually unencumbered. Wandering through the home is quite sobering. As was common at the time, it was very compact with many small rooms and narrow stairways. The period furniture, concomitant with the useful write-ups, pictures and displays, really help to set the scene and context. LM Montgomery’s journals, which are on display, gives you a small glimpse into the mind of one our most cherished writers.
As we were finishing up our tour (in the small gift shop), the two ladies working in the home gave us a brief oral history of the physical structure + some good information and insights on the Montgomery family. By the time you leave here – whether you’re visiting for a half hour or a couple of hours – you should have a solid sense of LM Montgomery the person and be able to relate that understanding to the various other LM Montgomery-Anne of Green Gables attractions found throughout PEI.

This is a small two-story house at the intersection of Route 6 and 20. We found out about this attraction while at Silver Bush. The proprietors gave us directions and said that you can not miss the sign. The lower level is a combination of a gift shop, a parlor room with a collection of Anne of Green Gables books translated into foreign languages, a room with articles and clippings from Lucy's life, and the kitchen. There is also a recreation of Lucy's wedding dress along with her shoes in the front room. The self-guided tour starts with a ten minute informative lecture about Lucy's life. The upper level is mostly bedrooms including the room in which Lucy was born. #RplusRadventures

how long would you recommend budgeting time wise to visit this location?

Honestly it depends on how much you are into the details. They give you a tour that takes less than 30 minutes. Then you are free to walk around the house looking at details. They also have a gift shop section. Have fun :-)
