About The Battlefield Explorer Tours
We share the history of Operation Market Garden so that the torch of remembrance is passed on to the next generation. We do so by taking our clients to the battlefields of Operation Market Garden and tell the history of what happened there, tell the stories of who fought there, and explain why this still matters today. We will talk about the big picture, why the operation was launched, what the goals were and how they were to be achieved. Then we focus on what happened to the troops on the ground, what were their experiences, what decisions were made that caused the outcomes and we reflect on the human cost. By the end of the day we hope to have inspired you to pass on what you have learned, that you too will carry the torch and help keep the memories of their sacrifices alive. Let us take you to battlefields around Arnhem, Nijmegen and Eindhoven. Allow us to inspire you.

Excellent tour. Joris is an experienced tourguide. He gives vivid descriptions on the spot of historical facts with the aid of photos, maps and audiofragments. We had a great day.

Joris is a fantastic battlefield guide! We did the Operation Market Garden Highlight tour and I can't recommend it enough. If you are a Market Garden novice Joris is good at explaining the complex details in a simple way and even if you know quite a bit about the operation you can learn alot - especially about the landscape features, which you can't fully appreciate from a book. I also had some very rewarding Market Garden discussions with Joris. I will definitely be back for one of his other tours!

As part of our WWII tour across Europe, specifically following the 101st Airborne, we had to stop in the Netherlands where Operation Market Garden took place. Having a basic knowledge of the events here and in the surrounding areas I was very excited to visit. Thinking I knew a thing or two, I have to admit, I was quickly blown away by what I didn't know. Joris knows this battle and the terrain to an extent I never could've imagined. He was able to tell us stories and take us to little known locations to really help bring the bigger picture to our history knowledge. He even has some artifacts he showed us, including a piece of parachute used in the Market Garden jumps! Joris has a passion for history and tells the stories with a reverence at times. He doesn't take his responsibility lightly when he shares stories of men who were killed and never able to tell their stories themselves. I truly felt like I left our tour with a new friend as opposed to just having a tour guide. I can't thank him enough for bringing such a great experience into our trip! Currahee!

I have titled our tour Joes Bridge but it was far more than this. Joris provided a tour that gave us so much information leading up to the taking of the bridge. Our uncle was killed in World War II and Joris researched some information on his death which was priceless to us. He has a depth of knowledge on all the battles and has a passion for it. We had a really great tour and can't thank Joris enough for making it so. Great value for money. We would highly recommend Joris to anyone seaking to know more about the battles that were fought and even like us you may have a relative who died in one of the battles. Once again thanks Joris keep doing what your doing. John & Sue Thornton (New Zealand) Anne & Brian Thornton (London)

My wife and I had a once in a lifetime trip in June 2019 traveling through 7 countries retracing the WWII 1944-1945 journey of “E” (Easy) Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101 st Airborne Division. This was a National WWII Museum educational travel program tour designed by leading historians and led by museum curators and expert local guides. We were extremely fortunate because as an added bonus Joris Nieuwint was our guide for 6 of the tour’s 12 days! Joris eagerly shares his in-depth knowledge with excellent communications skills, verbal clarity, a genuine passion for the subject material, and no question goes unanswered. If you are on a tour and Joris is your guide then feel lucky, listen, learn and interact. You will have a memorable experience! Thanks, Joris for adding so much to our trip and making it an unforgettable adventure. Bill & Christine 7/13/2019
