Lots of engines, planes, and stuff. Some of the items were poorly identified, could use more room to properly display airplanes. Could use a poison to control birds in hanger.

Lots of airplanes
Jul 2019
This place is hard to find as it is on a small country road and there is no sign at the entrance. It is filled with old airplanes and engines. There was no guide on duty when we visited so we didn't get to hear about anything but there are signs explaining the various exhibits.

Needs some curating

A friend and I were in Iowa for Sprint car races. Looking for something to do until the track opened. We saw the sign on the highway, checked here and decided to give it a shot. From earlier reviews, it appears that they have let the place slip. Two pole barn type buildings, one that I would call a exhibit hall. The other, taller side I would call a hangar. Poor lighting, exhibits and display cases crammed into small spaces, spider webs and bird droppings everywhere. Lots of neat memorabilia and planes, but could be so much better. There were six guys sitting around shooting the breeze. One said hi and said he was there if we had questions, but a tour guide would have been very helpful. Hopefully it gets cleaned up when they have their annual fly in. If you’re in the area, it might be worth checking out, but don’t make a special trip.

Lots of stuff, a guide would have been helpful
Jun 2018 • Couples
My wife and I stopped by a couple of weeks ago, and spent around a half hour walking through and looking. There was a ton of stuff, including a large amount of memorabilia and pieces dedicated to the various members of the Antique Airplane Association (AAA). We aren't pilots (although my dad is), so it was hard for us to really work through everything without a guide - and we didn't see anyone else other than us the whole time we were there. I know that my dad would have been helpful to have with us, so if we're in the area with him in the future, we'll probably stop back by.

Take a closer look
Aug 2016 • Friends
I first read about this place in the June 2016 issue of Air & Space mag. They had a large write up on the annual Antique Airplane Fly-in held every Labor Day. Always on the lookout for interesting destinations for motorcycle day trips and this fit the bill. The place is deceptive is a good way. The build is small and on first entering it appears to be a typical cluttered rural building. But once you start to take a closer look you will discover countless interesting historic, flight related items and aircraft you would not expect to find in an out of the way place. Look up the A&S article and take a drive. It worth the time.

Interesting Museum in Wapello County
Aug 2015 • Business
This museum features various periods of aviation via models, engines, propellers, photos and original arts. There are approximately 20 aircraft on display, including World War II models. Great museum in rural Iowa, definitely worth a stop!

Amazing history

We fly our antique airplane to Blakesburg, Iowa every Labor Day for The National Antique Airplane Association Fly In. If you enjoy history and want to see the finest examples of early aviation, you should definitely go and tour the Airpower Museum.
