We were traveling from Omaha to Sioux Falls, an easy day's drive, as part of a road trip vacation. So when we saw the highway sign for the Harrison County Historical Village & Iowa Welcome Center, Next Exit, we exited. Why not? We chuckled a bit - it was about 5 miles down the road, not really a roadside attraction,... More

A very well constructed and operated Welcome Center. Old pioneer buildings relocated to the property. Only one ill-advised thing: this site is about four mile +/- from the Interstate exits, through town. Tourists will find it hard to locate with the very minimal amount of signage that exists directing one to the location.

This place is great! It's similar to Living History Farms, but without all of the walking and grumpy old ladies. We enjoyed going through all of the buildings and seeing all of the antiques. My kids had a wonderful time and we plan to go back and spend the day.

Great little stop on the way to Omaha, lots of interesting Ia, Indian, and pioneer history. 3 air conditioned buildings well I guess 2 with walking outside to get to the upper level of the one. and 3 other ones to explore. Nice picnic area and play area for small children. it also has a gift shop and information area.... More

This was our second stop on our vacation to South Dakota. We walked in, browsed through the brochures and gift shop. I approached the counter and informed the attendant that we wanted to tour the museum and village. Her response was "The buildings aren't air-conditioned, except the last one." It was very hot and humid (Temperature was around 97 degrees)... More

I've been there twice and there is so much to see. The Historical Village is well done and is set up so well that you can walk from building to building which will lead you up to a viewing area that lets you see quite a distance. There is an excellent historical museum inside also with lots of interesting displays... More

Making our way across the Lincoln Highway, this was one of the suggested places to stop. Sure glad we did! We could have spent a lot more time here than we did, but had to continue our travels. So much to see. Excellent museum on the lower floor, including a video which we didn't get a chance to watch. Don't... More

I've been visiting the local area for years but never stopped by this gem until last weekend. Wow! Very nice. Very impressive. Friendly greeting when we walked in the door. The displays are good and the outdoor area is welcoming. Definitely stop by.
