Most people do not realize Zebulan Pike discovered Pikes Peak in McGregor Iowa There is a concession store to buy snack food and drinks! Trails to walk even a handicap trail with overlook of the Mississippi River. Bring a camera because the scenery is awe beautiful! There is camping next to it. Come for the day or camp for a... More

Hoping for a beautiful sunset and a respite from the day's heat we drove up to this state park. Clouds spoiled any sunset and the peak itself would have blocked any sun setting on the Mississippi valley floor. However, the view was great, the heat was subdued by the time we got there and there was enough breeze too to... More

Went out for a drive with my family one weekend and wound up here. The view is beautiful. I could have hung out here for hours; it was so peaceful.

My family has been going here for years. The campground: good campsites and a decent shower. There are plenty of great hiking trails with amazing views.

Wonderful View of the Mississippi where it is joined by the Wisconsin River. Across the river from Wisconsin's Wyalusing State Park and has even better views!

We visited this to see views of the Mississippi, the bridal veil falls, and the bear effigy mound. The park does provide a map, but it is confusing and does not indicate the location of the effigy mound. The river views were excellent, but so were ones from many other locations we visited. After climbing through a fallen tree on... More

Pikes Peak State Park is one of the best parks I've ever been to. The view is one of those moments that take your breath away much like my first trip through the Smokey Mountains, Yellowsone Park, the Grand Tetons and Pictured Rocks. I'm very happy we stopped here. We were in a hurry and running late but stopped for... More

Just outside of McGregor, IA, across the River from Prairie du Chien, WI and close to Effigy Mounds National Monument. No admission fee and very reasonable camping fees. Lots of parking and a small concession stand. I love that this park recycles! Lots of hiking, a small waterfall and beautiful views of the Mississippi River. Matt the Ranger is so... More

We stopped as part of the IA Waterfalls tour to see Bridal Veil Falls. We got a nice surprise with the beautiful overlook views!!!!!! The falls and trail were very well marked and also nicely maintained. The park in general was very pretty and also very well taken care of. Was a really nice visit!
