The kids will enjoy the exhibits as much as you. After looking at the puppets they can put on their own show for you. The museum also had some outdoor building materials for kids to play with in the front yard.

Great building and grounds. A very beautiful collection. A lot of interesting marionette puppets. I like that it has a lot of Grant Wood and also local artists.

Enjoyed seeing the ‘puppets’ from Sound of Music and others created by Bill Baird, another creative native. The temporary area showcasing local artists was most impressive. And the building itself is fascinating. Who knew Mason City had such treasures!

I really enjoyed this museum. It is free and is just right for a fulfilling, but not overwhelming art experience. My favorite exhibit was the marionette puppets. There are tons of unique puppets from different shows. You can also get a map for the sculpture...More
