LeClaire, Iowa. It's a special place. A place where life on the land is intimately married to the flow of the waters. For centuries, people here have looked to the water for a sense of calm, a spirit of enjoyment and a connection to a heritage that is uniquely their own. That marriage of land and water is now embodied in a different kind of spirit. The Mississippi River Distilling Company hand craft Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, and Specialty Spirits slow and pure near the banks of the Mississippi River. Born from the finest grains, harvested just up the hill from the distillery. It’s a spirit born of land and water that draws each of us curiously back to a different era. Made for you, not for for the masses.

Very interesting to see this operation so close to my home town. Many locals love to visit and have a drink or two quite often. Very pleasing atmosphere with friendly little-town people! Great place for the men to spend some time having a few drinks while their wife goes on a shopping spree in the many quaint stores in LeClaire.... More

This place has a great story and you do need to make it a stop when you're visiting Le Claire. The people were all very friendly and open about answering questions about what they do and why they do it that way. They are big-time serious about keeping everything local, up to and including the artwork on their walls and... More

This was our second visit to this distillery. Since it is a one-room operation, it is possible to sit and listen to the very enthusiastic guide explain the distilling process. At the close of the "tour," we were invited to sample some of the products. I'm not a huge fan of the product, but we did buy a couple bottles... More

Make you feel right at home the minute you walked in the door. Explained the procedure for each flavor they produce, and what they do with the by products after they take the premium products to make their booze. Then we into the tasting room, small drinks but seemed limitless. Bought 3 bottles and we don't drink!!!!!

Never toured a distillery - and this one was great! Gin, Vodka, Bourbon, etc - whatever your tastes in the hard stuff. Nice area and town is charming - GO!!!

We usually call a distillery or brewery visit a "drinking with strangers" activity. On Friday they open at 10 so we were the first visitors when they opened. This made it a drinking by ourselves visit. Enjoyed a few samples of the more interesting varieties they have. Really like the Apple cider rye whisky, a simple blend of barrel strength... More

The Mississippi River Distilling Company gives free tours several times throughout the day to show and explain the distilling process that they use in making their own spirits. They use local ingredients whenever possible. For example, the corn that they use is from area farmers within a 25 mile radius. Everything they make is distilled and bottled on site. They... More

If you ever visit Le Claire, be sure to stop by the Mississippi River Distilling Company. Particularly if it is the first Friday of the month. During this time they offer free samples of unique recipes for food and drinks, give you a run down of the distilling process (showing off the equipment used to do it) and allow you... More

The owner does a great job meeting and interacting with guests. He takes you through the distillery and provides some information on how the vodka and bourbon is created. He also gives out some samples at the end of the tour. I did have my children with me on this tour and they were all well behaved and listened. The... More

The free tour is very well done and cover how the craft distillery came to be; Following the tour there is free tasting of the locally produced spirits. I bought a bottle of their River Baron Artisan Spirit. (Much like a vodka, but with a bit of flavor). It mixes well with many things.
