Took two infants here and loved it. Breathtaking views of the river and no need to hike to the top. Plenty of parking and picnicking space. They even have a small playground for the older kids. We did do one of the easier hikes around...More

Need a free gym membership? Walk up this hill to get to the amazing views at the halfway point and at the top. Great place for picnics and sightseeing.

Even though it was a late spring with snow on the ground and on the bluffs and hills, the views of the river are spectacular.

I live in Allamakee County, Northeast Iowa. I have the opportunity to take in the view from Mount Hosmer often. I encourage all travelers and residents to drive to the top and take a gander. If you need to get your steps in, walk it!

We stopped at the overlook along the road and it was a beautiful place to see the river. Steep, narrow, windy road, but a nice little gem up on the hill. There were some military memorials up at the park which were nice as well...More

What a wonderful place to stop and watch a barge travel up the Mississippi. We were lucky enough to spot a bald eagle in flight as well. It's well worth the drive up the mountain for the great view.

The park is closed to any vehicle traffic during the winter.... However, several folks walk up the road to the top throughout winter. It is a beautiful view any time of the year. I doubt there are any snow shoe or cross... More
