We take most of our out-of-town guests on this literary walk in the heart of Iowa City. Be sure to pick up a paperback copy of the guide first at Prairie Lights book store. One is always surprised at how many famous authors have Iowa...More

While the quotes imprinted in the concrete are worn and virtually impossible to read now, all the metal inlaid in the sidewalk are there and very cool.

If you're an avid reader, writer, or anything in between, this is a fun activity for a nice day. Walk the quaint streets of North America's first city of literature and check out these great pieces that represent bits of famous literature.

A delightful surprise while walking from a retro eatery to and through the Campus of the University of Iowa. What better way to pay tribute to the literary legacy of the Iowa Writers' Workshop and the importance of literacy history in our American culture? Where...More

We were walking downtown and came across the Literary Walk. It's not a big, big deal but it was fun to read the quotes and see the accompanying art. Check it out if you're in the area.

Kind of like the Hollywood Stars Walk of Fame only these are quotes of famous authors who once participated in the highly respected Iowa Writer's Workshop. Very interesting.

This is a neat idea but the quotes were difficult to read, especially those in the concrete. Slowly walking the blocks and reading the quotes is a fun thing to do, especially in good weather.

I almost ran into a few people because I was walking with my head down almost the whole time. Every couple of feet there is another plaque in the ground. The walk spans a couple blocks and is on both sides of the street.
