Loved it!

So much science. This museum has an awesome collection dating back to before the dinosaurs. Your kids will learn a lot.

Free of charge, extensive collection, friendly staff. Located in the heart of the U of Iowa campus, this museum will appeal to the families of any size. I personally enjoy visiting on my own, as I like to take my time moving from one hall to another.

When my sons were young, the Museum of Natural History was a favorite place to spend a couple hours. A visit there starts with a GIANT sloth from the Ice Age and nearby coral reef from eons ago that features a very impressive Giant fish with big teeth and big armour--Both are kid magnets, but secretly happy they are stuffed... This is certainly a decent but relatively small museum worth your time if you're interested in learning some regional history and seeing some geologic, wildlife, and native American historical exhibits. Don't miss "Rusty," the star of the show.

Very small museum. Not the building but most of it is used for classrooms and offices. Good news it is free. Next to the old state capital in downtown. It's worth a short visit if you have some time to kill.

We take our grandkids here, and they love seeing all the science exhibits, the rocks, the fossils, the stuffed animals, the birds, the albino raccoon, the fish, it is pretty educational. I recommend anyone who likes history to see this place.

We had a day off of school so I took my four kids to check out the museum. Ages 11, 8, 6 and 1. The museum is old but clean and has many interesting exhibits. You can check out themed packs full of activities and books at the front counter for free. The kids had fun with the packs and... More

Got an hour or two to spend before going to a ball game or dinner, check this place out. Its free and kids and grownups alike will enjoy taking some time and walking through this museum. Just warn your kids there will not be dinosaurs, that was the only disappointment for my daughter. Once she got over that fact she... More

The opportunity to see the primate and bird exhibits were outstanding for my little one, however you can tell on entry that there is a need for additional funding to keep this hidden treasure alive. I think just the location inside a college liberal arts building and the love the staff has for the location bumped the score. Unfortunate there... More
