Our amazing visit to Bunbury Mill.
Our amazing visit to Bunbury Mill. The tour was absolutely fantastic ,we loved it. Peter made it very interesting and he involved us in operating some of the machinery. He also told us some hilarious facts. Come along and start the 10 Ton Waterwheel to test your strength. We’ll remember this trip for a long time! The above comments have been made by our 8 year old granddaughter who visited the Mill with us and her 4 year old sister. Thank you for a very interesting visit and making it so much fun for our grandchildren as well as us. What a great team you have! Very best wishes. Eadie, Bess, Nana & Alan
Thank you for taking the time to post such a lovely review and we are all thrilled that you all enjoyed yourselves so much. The mill is entirely supported by volunteers who are always happy to help. Knowing that your grandchildren had such a good time is especially nice to hear. Hope to see you all again next year!

    Definitely recommend
We visited the mill on Sunday afternoon and we had an amazing experience. The tour was very interesting and we learnt about the history of the mill and we tried some of the machinery inside the mill. We visited with a 4 year old and she keeps talking about it and how great it was. This place is supported by volunteers and they are doing an amazing job. Thank you very much for today. 🤩🤩❤️
Thanks for posting such a lovely review and we are thrilled that you all had such a good time. As you say the mill is supported entirely by volunteers and hearing that their efforts are so appreciated means the world to all of us.

Historic Watermill - well worth a visit
A great attraction and definitely worth a visit on a Sunday afternoon. This historic working watermill is just outside the lovely Cheshire village of Bunbury. The mill is run entirely by a great team of volunteers who provide guided tours of the mill, run the visitor centre/cafe and keep the grounds looking lovely. Our guides Paul and Polly were excellent and gave us so much information about the history and workings of the mill. They showed us how all the machinery worked and allowed us to have a go at starting the mill wheel and operating the grain hoist etc. Afterwards we headed across to the well renowned cafe for drinks and homebaked cafes. All the volunteers are so friendly and helpful and value your visit to keep this historic mill going.
Thanks for posting such a lovely review and its great to hear that you enjoyed all the aspects of the Mill. As you say we are entirely supported by volunteers and I am sure Polly and Paul in particular will be thrilled.

    A great place to visit.
A very interesting place to visit on a Sunday afternoon. The Mill building is deceptive in that at ground level it only appears to be single storey but in reality it extends downwards two floors due to the steeply sloping site (accessed by fairly steep steps) . We were treated to a personal tour by our friendly, knowledgeable guide, Richard, who is one of several volunteers that maintain and operate the Mill. Richard showed us how to start up the water wheel and how the power generated drives the grindstones and sack hoist via a system of ropes, belts, pulleys and wooden toothed gears. He also told us the history of the Mill and demonstrated other machinery that was used by the miller. Having thoroughly enjoyed our tour, we returned to the visitor centre and cafe for tea and delicious cake!
Thanks for taking the time to post such a lovely review. Bunbury Mill is supported entirely by enthusiastic volunteers and I am sure Richard will be made up to hear that you enjoyed his tour as well as the yummy tea and cakes!

    Bunbury water mill tour
Came across this place by chance. Didn’t know what to expect and had a 79 lady with us. Peter the tour guide was very friendly and gave us an informative and interesting overview about the workings of the mill and how life would have been. We had a hands on experience and even a fragile lady was able to enjoy the tour and get involved. We had their homemade cakes and tea afterwards. All the volunteers were friendly and welcoming . Most certainly worth a visit 😀
Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a lovely review. All of our volunteers will be thrilled you had such a good time. Please tell your friends and if you are passing again on a Sunday afternoon feel free to pop in and have another slice of cake. We would be delighted to see you all again.

Called in for another tour as we enjoyed the last one a couple of years ago. The volunteers are really welcoming and helpful. We had a different guide this time, Peter, so the talk as we went round was slightly different and we learnt a bit more about the history and workings of the mill. It is a great tribute to all involved that the mill survives in an operational way. Well worth seeing and we will be back in a couple of years.

Spent a lovely sunny Easter Sunday touring the mill. The surrounding area is stunning , lots of interesting plants and wildlife around the Mill pond. We were given a tour by Peter, who gave us a fascinating glimpse into the history of Bunbury Mill through his extensive knowledge, pictures and examples of working machinery.
We finished the tour with some homemade cakes and drinks.

We stumbled upon Bunbury Mill, quite by accident and what a little gem it is. Our guide Peter was informative, funny and a genuinely lovely guy. Questions were plentiful and the history insightful and thought provoking.

The mill itself is fully operational and with the interactive tour, you can work the water wheel and other machinery from years gone by and if you’re lucky the flour made can be bought in the visitor centre - thank you Peter for such a fun couple of hours 😀
