About
Is this Heaven? No, it’s Iowa. A place of fertile soil, traditional values and simple pleasure. And, in Dyersville, Iowa, at the century-old Lansing family farm with its quaint, and oh-so-recognizable house, baseball still ranks as a favorite pastime for all ages. What better place to carve a baseball diamond from a corn field and to make a movie about pursuing one’s dream, no matter how much effort it takes? From tours of the inside of the iconic Field of Dreams Farm House, to our retail store, to our concessions stand, there certainly is plenty to do at the place dreams come true! Is this Heaven? We sure think so! The Movie Site will be closed to the public Friday, 8/5/22 - Sunday, 8/14/22 to prepare for the highly anticipated MLB at Field of Dreams game Thursday, August 11 between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds.

Our family of 5 adults had planned this trip for quite a while and finally had to keep pinching ourselves that we were at the field of dreams in Iowa. Our plan included a one night stay in the house and exclusive use of the field. The experience met all our expectations and more. Dean was a life saver and came at a moments notice to take care of a few maintenance issues. Morgan was our house greeter and was a gem after just having her youngest 3 weeks prior. The house tour guide was very informative and shared history and future plans for the site. We had a great time and made memories for a lifetime. The experience is unmatched and we highly recommend it to anyone who has any connection with baseball, father/son or father/daughter or the entire family. So glad we made this trip happen.

Sitting in the bleachers watching my three adult sons ages 39,33 and 33 acting like 17 year olds playing baseball again warmed my heat and it has given them a little peace after the loss of their father. As a baseball family James Earl Jones said it best…it reminds us of all that once was good and that could be again. It is a magical place if you allow it to be.
The people of Dyersville are a warm community and it is still a small American town. The home was quaint and comfortable.

Our family stayed a night in the Field of Dreams home and had access to the field for an hour with the lights on. We had a spectacular time. Being on the field, under the lights, just us, was something hard to put into words. Then spending the night in the former Lansing home was just the icing on the cake. The staff was extremely professional (Craig and Megan) and Craig's very insightful tour of the house was top notch. If anyone that has ever thought about taking the trip to Dyersville and just experiencing the area, please do it. It is well worth it.

I'm a huge fan of the movie and have wanted to see this place for a long time. I am NOT a fan of baseball in general, however. So I was sad to see their future plans for the place with all the extra baseball diamonds they want to build. Ruins the whole nostalgic movie vibe.
I was not able to do a home tour because they were booked up and we would have had to wait 1 1/2 hours to do it. I wasn't too upset about that because the inside of the house wasn't that prominent in the movie. I really wanted to get a good look at the front porch & swing though, and that is nearly impossible because the shrubbery is so overgrown. They need to rip it put and plant smaller stuff.
The humongous gift shop was also a disappointment. Their souvenirs are all generic baseball shirts & caps. Nothing related to the movie was offered, except a pictoral book for $25 that was worth $10 at most. Not a refrigerator magnet or shot glass to be seen. Just lame coffee mugs for $18 and t-shirts for $34 that weren't even cute. They really missed the mark on movie merchandising opportunities here!
Overall, I'm glad I went before they added anything else to it. By the time they are done the place will be totally unrecognizable.

Like anyone going to the Field of Dreams movie site, we drove out of our way to get to this tourist attraction. We visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The "suggested donation of $20" felt forced as people collect the "donation" like stadiums collect parking fees. We had already intended to pay but I feel sorry for other people who may have felt obligated once they arrived. Park on grass/dirt, no handicapped indicated. It would be difficult for wheelchair or mobility-impaired people to get around. Bring a camp chair if you want to sit down. Limited seating available. You can play catch, run bases or walk out of the corn for fun. There was a Ghost players game while we were there. This event and timing wasn't published on Facebook or website. Everyone leaves field for the Ghost players to do their deal. We sat through LONG, HOKEY announcer's comments and left while the Ghost players started to select people out of the crowd to join them. We were told that the Ghost players would be available to sign autographs later. Who even are these people? Merch was overpriced as expected. Line for food was long. We didn't care about the house so didn't pay to tour it. I hope the people from NY, CA and Ecuador thought if was worth the trip. I had low expectations of this place and it met those expectations. And PS we love baseball and watch or participate in 6 games a week during the summer

Spent the day at Field of Dreams, with the day the Ghost players performed (while it was fun watching them on the different tricks, would have been nice to actually had an inning or two of actual game play). Was pleasantly surprised the cost of concessions is very reasonable! Word of caution they don't like you going more than 3-4 feet into the corn field...would be nice to let patrons know that the corn field maze or path to the pro baseball stadium is not in place.

Our baseball team met as a group and drove an hour to visit Fields of Dreams. The $20 "donation" is more of a requirement which is silly because we would have given more. We opened up new baseballs and headed to the field to find out we couldn't get on it. We knew you could rent the field so we waited for a game to finish. However the next game started right away not allowing downtime to let tourist walk on the field. We were hoping to let our players get into their positions and throw the ball around for just a couple of minutes, NOPE. So we decided to walk over to go see the field that was built for the MLB game. We reached the gravel road, and started walking the 1/4 mile or so to the field. When we got close to the field, a security guard with some people on a golf cart told us we were not allowed to be there. We apologized and walked the 1/4 mile back. We assumed this was part of the tour that we had to pay for (which would explain the people getting a ride on the golf cart) so we gathered up everyone. At that time the director of the park, (not sure of his name) came over to shake the coach's hand and told us we trespassed and needed to leave the park. We were all dumbfounded because we weren't sure what we did wrong. (The gate had a no trespassing sign on it which we assumed was for when they closed the park at night. Since it was open and people were at the end of the gravel road, we had no idea we weren't allowed to be on the road.) We did not argue or question, we just left. This is not a tourist attraction anymore, it's a ball field for rent. It's very commercial and managed to get $300 "donations" from our group for the 15 minutes we were there. It was so disappointing.

Okay, so I stopped because I was driving through the and it was just a couple of miles off my route. I had seen the movie and was curious about what was there. I have to say that I was touched by sitting on the stands and watching moms and dads play catch on that field or run the bases. I mean, it's just a baseball field made for a movie, but there is something strangely magical about it.

I really wanted to like this place. First, to be clear, the field and house have been very well cared for, and it was fun going on the field. If you enjoyed the movie, you should go once. Everything else was just weird.
We were basically accosted by a lady at the main gate, who told us that we were "required" to pay a $20 donation in order to keep up the field. Um, wouldn't that just be an admission fee, or would that ruin the "free" to see option on their website? Ok, so whatever, I get trying to make a buck. It just was a horrible first impression.
Had to park on gravel in front of a line of port a potties, then walk around a monstrosity of a "gift shop" to get to the field. The field itself was great, albeit with now a giant MLB field in view in the background. For all the obvious money this place is raking in, they can't afford to update the movie information signage next to the field? It's cracked, faded, weather worn, and tough to read. Seemed like an after thought.
Now, the really confusing one, the "gift shop". Maybe the biggest, most expensive, weirdest, shop of nothing ever. 90% of the items were shirts or hats with "baseballism" plastered on it. ??? Am I missing something here? Almost nothing from the movie. Again, seemed like an after thought. No magnets, posters, bumper stickers or anything movie site related except for maybe a couple of strangely designed $35 shirts. Not even any copies of the actual movie for sale? Just weird for a site that only exists because of the movie.
Their limited sign information about the site says that they want to keep the property innocent and not commercial. Might want to update that, too, with a bunch of new travel ball fields coming, along with the MLB field and ridiculous gift shop.
I really wanted to like this place and, in the end, sort of did??

We were here over Labor Day weekend and it a truly remarkable experience. We were there 4 years ago when the corn was matured and we wanted to see the field when the corn was still green, like it was in the movie. We would definitely recommend the house tour. We did that when we were here last time, it is quite remarkable. Just as a heads up when you pull in there is a suggested donation of $20. You don’t have to pay but at least you know that going in. And the gift shop is card only. They also have a little snack shop if you want something to eat while you’re there. But it definitely a place to visit

If we want to toss a ball on the field when we visit do we need to bring our own ball and glove or do they have some there to use?

When is the best time to visit? July? August? We want to make sure there’s corn when we go.

I’d like to know the architecture and era of the House. I’d like to see the rooms on line. I’d visit for the house tour primarily. Could it be a B&B experience?

bieb02, the house is rented out for overnight stays and you have access to the entire home plus the ballfield for the night! If you are interested, call Margie at 563/875-7253.

My family will be passing through the area one morning in late August. We will be on a tight travel schedule so I was curious if it would be possible for us to stop in for a few minutes just to take a picture or two on the field even though we would be arriving a little before 9a? It would be more around 8:30a. Thank you!

I think that the ball field is accessible any time, but if you want a souvenir or to view the inside of the house you will need to arrive later. In August you should be able to get some neat pictures walking out from the corn field, too. Enjoy.
