About
Is this Heaven? No, it’s Iowa. A place of fertile soil, traditional values and simple pleasure. And, in Dyersville, Iowa, at the century-old Lansing family farm with its quaint, and oh-so-recognizable house, baseball still ranks as a favorite pastime for all ages. What better place to carve a baseball diamond from a corn field and to make a movie about pursuing one’s dream, no matter how much effort it takes? From tours of the inside of the iconic Field of Dreams Farm House, to our retail store, to our concessions stand, there certainly is plenty to do at the place dreams come true! Is this Heaven? We sure think so! The Movie Site will be closed to the public Friday, 8/5/22 - Sunday, 8/14/22 to prepare for the highly anticipated MLB at Field of Dreams game Thursday, August 11 between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds.

They had a really nice little gift shop. It’s amazing that it’s free to visit and play on the field (although donations are encouraged). We had fun chatting with other baseball fans—I even played catch for a bit with a Yankees fan (I’m from Cleveland). We had fun taking photos by the house, walking into the cornfields and playing on the field. It was a perfect place to spend a couple of hours basking in baseball nostalgia!Visited August 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 9, 2023
- Charles PMinneapolis, Minnesota6 contributionsA Great Way to Spend a Few HoursField of Dreams is one of only 10 films I own. It was fun to hear about the making of the movie and being on the set so to speak. Our guide was very good and made the experience enjoyable. The field and tall corn looked great. Was fun to see young kids playing ball on the actual field used in the movie. Am sure they will remember that the rest of their lives.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 11, 2023
- Jill EEasley, South Carolina513 contributionsGreat fun for fans of the movie! What a fun morning we had! Our guide for the house tour was knowledgeable and allowed plenty of time for questions. Lots of fun trivia and history of the house and movie deal were included in the tour. Afterward, we played catch and hit a few balls on the diamond. Then, we walked to the edge of the field where there are signs with QR codes to make your own digital baseball cards, and to replicate walking through the corn. If you’re a fan of the movie, this tour is a lot of fun. Also, the surrounding countryside is just beautiful.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 1, 2024
- Jeff SAustin, Texas114 contributionsthey built it, so we wentStunning to spend time on the field and in the house. The tour was fantastic. Lots of lore around the movie and the story. Really enjoyed staying overnight and being able to turn the lights on. I'm sure it's way better when it's warmer and the corn is up, but just being there was magical even at that time of yearVisited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 23, 2024

- Lacy W31 contributionsGhost Players Could Have Done MoreSaw this on the Today Show and immediately asked the husband if he wanted to go. We live only 5 hours away, so it's not bad. We booked a campsite and away we went. We really wanted to make sure we came on a Saturday to see the Ghost players. Honestly, kinda disappointed. We were really hoping it would resemble the movie more. The players didn't come out of the corn, which we were so hoping would happen. We had envisioned that the players would kind of put on a practice like the movie, but instead, it was like a poorly put together globetrotters show. We sat in the blazing hot sun to watch them interact with a few kids they picked from the crowd. I understand it was lighthearted and geared towards audience participation, but for true Field of Dreams fans, it was a disappointment. Even my 10 year old, who just watched the movie, was disappointed not seeing more of the Ghost Players play. I feel like it could have been better.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 8, 2024

Given that our experience exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed exploring the house. We enjoyed spending the afternoon watching people enjoying themselves by walking around and having a catch. The corn in the outfield was just about as amazing in person as it was in the movie. You just seem to disappear from you when you walk slowly into the corn, we had an amazing time and would recommend it to others.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 23, 2024
- GoodTimezNew Boston, Ohio42 contributionsWorth the drive!I’ve watched the movie but honestly didn’t know what to expect from the movie site. My husband and I who are baseball lovers thought this was one of the best stops we’ve made all summer. We live around 9 hours away and were traveling back home, working this into our schedule. So glad we did! Love the field and the nostalgia of how original everything seems. We arrived on a Monday and we got there soon after 9 am. It honestly wasn’t too crowded but seemed to get that way as the day went on. Parking was very close by for us because we arrived early. We played on the field, ran the bases (lot of balls, bats and gloves supplied right beside the field) and went out to the corn stalks, bought souvenirs (they didn’t have any magnets in stock, I was bummed, magnets are my thing!!) and then toured at 11am. Our house tour guide was Molly, very knowledgeable and didn’t read a single word off of a q card. We went into their eatery (The DugOut) drank a cold one and left soon after. Every one was so friendly! Met many tourists and staff who were willing to take a photo and share a baseball story or two. Definitely more beautiful, peaceful and interesting than I imagined.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 24, 2024

It was also nice to meet the gentleman dressed as a ghost player, he was so friendly and made sure we were able to get a picture as a family. We also took a tour of the house with Craig and he was full of knowledge about the property and the filming of the movie.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 30, 2024

Like anyone going to the Field of Dreams movie site, we drove out of our way to get to this tourist attraction. We visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The "suggested donation of $20" felt forced as people collect the "donation" like stadiums collect parking fees. We had already intended to pay but I feel sorry for other people who may have felt obligated once they arrived. Park on grass/dirt, no handicapped indicated. It would be difficult for wheelchair or mobility-impaired people to get around. Bring a camp chair if you want to sit down. Limited seating available. You can play catch, run bases or walk out of the corn for fun. There was a Ghost players game while we were there. This event and timing wasn't published on Facebook or website. Everyone leaves field for the Ghost players to do their deal. We sat through LONG, HOKEY announcer's comments and left while the Ghost players started to select people out of the crowd to join them. We were told that the Ghost players would be available to sign autographs later. Who even are these people? Merch was overpriced as expected. Line for food was long. We didn't care about the house so didn't pay to tour it. I hope the people from NY, CA and Ecuador thought if was worth the trip. I had low expectations of this place and it met those expectations. And PS we love baseball and watch or participate in 6 games a week during the summer

Our baseball team met as a group and drove an hour to visit Fields of Dreams. The $20 "donation" is more of a requirement which is silly because we would have given more. We opened up new baseballs and headed to the field to find out we couldn't get on it. We knew you could rent the field so we waited for a game to finish. However the next game started right away not allowing downtime to let tourist walk on the field. We were hoping to let our players get into their positions and throw the ball around for just a couple of minutes, NOPE. So we decided to walk over to go see the field that was built for the MLB game. We reached the gravel road, and started walking the 1/4 mile or so to the field. When we got close to the field, a security guard with some people on a golf cart told us we were not allowed to be there. We apologized and walked the 1/4 mile back. We assumed this was part of the tour that we had to pay for (which would explain the people getting a ride on the golf cart) so we gathered up everyone. At that time the director of the park, (not sure of his name) came over to shake the coach's hand and told us we trespassed and needed to leave the park. We were all dumbfounded because we weren't sure what we did wrong. (The gate had a no trespassing sign on it which we assumed was for when they closed the park at night. Since it was open and people were at the end of the gravel road, we had no idea we weren't allowed to be on the road.) We did not argue or question, we just left. This is not a tourist attraction anymore, it's a ball field for rent. It's very commercial and managed to get $300 "donations" from our group for the 15 minutes we were there. It was so disappointing.

I'm a huge fan of the movie and have wanted to see this place for a long time. I am NOT a fan of baseball in general, however. So I was sad to see their future plans for the place with all the extra baseball diamonds they want to build. Ruins the whole nostalgic movie vibe.
I was not able to do a home tour because they were booked up and we would have had to wait 1 1/2 hours to do it. I wasn't too upset about that because the inside of the house wasn't that prominent in the movie. I really wanted to get a good look at the front porch & swing though, and that is nearly impossible because the shrubbery is so overgrown. They need to rip it put and plant smaller stuff.
The humongous gift shop was also a disappointment. Their souvenirs are all generic baseball shirts & caps. Nothing related to the movie was offered, except a pictoral book for $25 that was worth $10 at most. Not a refrigerator magnet or shot glass to be seen. Just lame coffee mugs for $18 and t-shirts for $34 that weren't even cute. They really missed the mark on movie merchandising opportunities here!
Overall, I'm glad I went before they added anything else to it. By the time they are done the place will be totally unrecognizable.

Glad I stopped with my dad but we are both huge fans of baseball and the movie. If your a casual fan of either you're going to be bored. It's remote location also means your chances of being close to it are slim. When we arrived at 10am the field had not been raked, the lines not painted and the sprinklers were on in the outfield. Considering they open at 9am it seems like all this would have been done before guests arrived. Also power lines run directly over the field and lights from a new nearby ball park scar any picture you want of left field. The gift shop sported some pretty lame gear at high prices. There is no entry fee but we donated $20 each to the upkeep of the field.

Spent the day at Field of Dreams, with the day the Ghost players performed (while it was fun watching them on the different tricks, would have been nice to actually had an inning or two of actual game play). Was pleasantly surprised the cost of concessions is very reasonable! Word of caution they don't like you going more than 3-4 feet into the corn field...would be nice to let patrons know that the corn field maze or path to the pro baseball stadium is not in place.

Visited this movie site on a Wednesday. They suggest a donation of $20 when you drive up, stopping at a little pseudo guard shack type hut with a greeter there to collect. They have a souvenir shop, operated by another retail entity with overpriced items that are vaguely associated with the movie theme. The field is still there along with the bleachers as they appeared in the movie. The house is there and they offer a 30 minute tour of the downstairs with some local history offered. Not sure how much they charge for the tour. At the time if our visit, there was no corn growing g yet (late April). But they do have a container with baseballs available in case you'd like to "have a catch". All in all, not much to really see here, but it was still cool to see the field and drive in on the roads where the cars came in from all over to see the baseball magic that was appearing in Iowa.

Our family of 5 adults had planned this trip for quite a while and finally had to keep pinching ourselves that we were at the field of dreams in Iowa. Our plan included a one night stay in the house and exclusive use of the field. The experience met all our expectations and more. Dean was a life saver and came at a moments notice to take care of a few maintenance issues. Morgan was our house greeter and was a gem after just having her youngest 3 weeks prior. The house tour guide was very informative and shared history and future plans for the site. We had a great time and made memories for a lifetime. The experience is unmatched and we highly recommend it to anyone who has any connection with baseball, father/son or father/daughter or the entire family. So glad we made this trip happen.

Getting into the Movie Site cost $20 per car for a donation. Seeing the field is cool. There were kids playing catch & it wasn't too crowded. We took pictures of us coming out of the corn and at home plate. We went to buy souvenirs and were very disappointed. There were only a very few T-shirts with Field of Dreams wording on them. Most of the merchandise was related to baseball as a whole. When you go to a specific site I look for T-shirts or hats that specifically say where I was (Field of Dreams). There was very little there. Some things that had the identifying wording were only available online! I think it may because of the licensing issues with the wording "Field of Dreams". Maybe the movie has the rights & they were too expensive for the proprietors. Anyway we didn't buy any of the generic souvenirs.

The kids and I were excited to come, and we rewatched the movie the night before. It’s not much to write home about. We showed up and couldn’t use the field as it was in use for an impromptu baseball game. We could’ve waited another hour+ to take the tour but we decided to leave instead of stare at the corn field. I would recommend they get some wooden bodies of the characters near the corn so the kids could put their faces through. Or maybe a wall of photos of the MLB celebrities who’ve stood at first base. Or even rental uniforms the kids could’ve walked out of the corn in. We wanted memories but we got blah. Not even a corn maze. I know they’re focusing on infrastructure but we are a farming family and this was just a waste of our time.

Sitting in the bleachers watching my three adult sons ages 39,33 and 33 acting like 17 year olds playing baseball again warmed my heat and it has given them a little peace after the loss of their father. As a baseball family James Earl Jones said it best…it reminds us of all that once was good and that could be again. It is a magical place if you allow it to be.
The people of Dyersville are a warm community and it is still a small American town. The home was quaint and comfortable.

Can I get into the store in a wheelchair?

Yes, there are no steps & you should be able to pull up your vehicle close to the bldg entrance. The “store” is down the hill from where the house sits.
