Never knew this gem existed. The area is well worth looking into. The trail to the Julien Dubuque monument is easy and provides great views of the Mississippi river. You can spend a 1/2 hour or a 1/2 day hiking trails.

Unique views, exciting paths, and amazing rock formations are all just part of the fun. This is a beautiful location that is large enough that you won't find yourself being bored. Plenty of well marked trails and some not so well marked if you prefer that lead you along the bluffs of the Mississippi River and down to the River's... More

We visited this and hiked for several hours. It was not difficult to find. The trail to the Dubuque monument is handicap accessible but that was the only trail we saw that was like that. Since the Dubuque monument is in a clearing, we also enjoyed spotting it, later, as we drove to other things around the town.

We stopped for about 20 minutes after leaving Crystal Lake Cave just to look around and the view was well worth it! Very photogenic area!

We did the catfish creek trail. This is a two mile loop which can be done either from the Julian Dubuque Memorial or from a small parking lot down the road. We started from the parking lot and did the outer loop first. This is a relatively flat and even portion of the trail and gives you views of the... More

The park is beautiful and well maintained. Amazing views of the Mississippi River. There are quite a few shorter trails, and a longer six mile one. There are a few steep drops at the Bluffs-Horseshoe Canyon trail, so keep an eye on those kids.

My wife and I were to the Mines of Spain to go Kayaking. We out in at Catfish Creek. There is a small parking area so get there early.

There are a lot of good trails here for those that like to walk. There is also an interpretive center with displays about the local history and natural resources.
