Best kept secret in Dubuque

My very favorite peaceful, beautiful spot in Dubuque all kept up by volunteers. Music in the Park on Sunday evenings, in the summer, is heavenly. So impressive!

Gorgeous vegetation and paths await you. Beautiful kept up with a multitude of flowers you may want to stop back every couple of weeks to see what's blooming. There's even a dessert area. It's free and just a beautiful place to take a break. I love heading here at sunset. There is a very nice gift shop in the center... More

The arboretum stop was part of a day trip on May 21 after the Old House Enthusiast Tour and art fest. It was lovely even though we were a little earlier for many of the blooms. It made a perfect place for a wedding that we witnessed. I would go back because many of us were to walk much further... More

Well cared for and well appointed spot. Playground is one of the few with shade. Nice gardens and ponds. Watch for special events.

I had visited this garden perhaps 20 years ago, and what stood out in my memory was the outstanding hosta collection. It's just as fine as I remembered, with a peaceful shady gazebo. This relatively small arboretum/botanical garden, tucked into a residential area, is apparently supported mainly by endowment and volunteers, and remarkably there is no admission charge. Also notable... More

The best thing about this place is it is free. The plants and flowers are beautiful and the upkeep of the gardens is amazing. My kids always enjoy visiting the Koi fish pond when we visit. We even had our family pictures taken there. With all the flowers and plants the backgrounds for pictures are endless. They also allow weddings... More

I loved this place. It's free, it's peaceful and beautiful. Good for a date, or simply walking around. Maybe not the most exciting for children, although there was a little Park.

Weather was perfect for a leisurely walk around the gardens, Plenty of volunteers keep this place beautiful. The wild flower garden is a little overgrown and a walk down the path led to a large scratch on my leg (was wearing shorts). I should have known better. If we owned a home in the rea I coujdl see being here... More

The Arboretum is filled to the brim with plants well labeled and easy walking paths. The music on Sunday night is especially wonderful. The playground area is super for small children.

I have been to a few Arboretums but the one in Dubuque has to be one of the nicest. All of the gardens were nice, but I really enjoyed the Japanese landscaping and pond. It was really relaxing walking through the property! They even have concerts on certain nights which would be fun to go and enjoy. Plan on spending... More
