My husband and I enjoy going here to walk or ride bikes. It's a wide trail and makes a loop although there are off-shoots to other trails if you want to explore. Walking around the lake there's a breeze typically. It can be crowded. It's a little over 2 miles around.

This is a great park to sit and relax, go for a stroll or more rigorous exercise. Water rentals are available in season... always lots of people running, walking dogs are hanging out by the water... and there are apparently Pokemon everywhere if you are into that sort of thing!

I love taking the dogs to the park and just walk around the path. There are a lot of places to stop and rest along the way. Lots of activity going on as people are walking, running, etc. There is a bowl of water for the doggies to drink from too so that is nice. One of my favorite places... More

I was visiting a friend in Des Moines, (I'm from KC), and we decided a stroll outside was in order. The weather was divine and I admit, I was intrigued by the high number of Pokemon Go stops at this park. This park surprised me in every way. Joggers and dog walkers passed by peacefully, the small beach at the... More

Nice place for a walk and a breather. The beautiful lake and bridge view was awesome. We loved the grasshoppers! It's the simple things in life.

A very clean park which has a wonderful pathway right around the lake, including a raised deck over part of the lake, which allows for a bit of exercise. Swimming and boating in season as well.

This is an urban park on either side of a busy road. The side above was busy both days we were in Des Moines. We visited the opposite (water works) side and enjoyed the drive through. It is very, very hot in Des Moines in July. If you have your bathing suit, this looked like a gem.

This lake is gorgeous. The colored bridge (the colored lights turn on at night) is wonderful. There are plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy yourself here. If you are looking for a park to have some solitude this is not the park to go to. There are almost always people at this park all day and all night until... More

We took our daughter's puppy around the lake for an afternoon stroll. It was beautiful, peaceful and a perfect distance. I loved that there were bridges and great natural scenery to enjoy along the way.
