Open to visitors since September 2009, the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park features artwork by 22 of the world's most celebrated artists.

The 4.4 Acre park, located within a major crossroads of the urban grid, creates a pedestrian friendly entranceway to downtown Des Moines. This accessible setting, coupled with the skilled landscape design and caliber of the art, makes it unlike any other sculpture park in the United States. The Pappajohns' contribution of 28 works for the park is the most significant donation of artwork ever made to the Des Moines Art Center.

The Des Moines Sculpture park is on the West side of downtown Des Moines with parking all around and easy access to a quick oasis of art and turf downtown. My children love to run around the art and get different angles of the artwork and it is a perfect stroll after dinner!

There was a lot of sculptures and art. Nothing AMAZING but nonetheless very interesting. It's a nice view of you want to go for a walk or even a jog.

We took two of our adult children to the Pappajohn Sculpture Park when they were in Des Moines visiting, and they were totally impressed by the number and variety of unique art pieces that are permanently displayed here. You won't be disappointed if you take the time to explore this beautiful area of our downtown.

There are some very neat scupltures in this garden and there is also one my 4 year old says looks like "poop." I am not a modern art person, I guess I like my art where I can figure out what it is. This is all very abstract and honestly, makes me wonder why anyone would make it or even... More

We enjoyed an evening stroll thru the unique and interesting sculpture park. The variety of sculptures is amazing. The sidewalk easily take you from point to point and the ability to walk thru the grass or sit on the lawn and enjoy the sculptures is a great option. Lots of people were doing the Pokemon Go game at the sculpture... More

The sculpture garden is a rather unique and unusual feature of the downtown area. I recommend calling the number and hearing the guided tour which gives background on the artists and the sculptures. There is a great variety of work. I enjoyed an evening stroll looking at them and the information made me appreciate them even more. Don't miss it.

Nice park located very near to the Capitol building and Downtown. Good for a nice troll along the park and see various sculptures. Parking is on the streets and could be difficult to find on a busy day!

We loved the fact you could wander around all the sculptures for free. We were lucky to have a gloriously beautiful day to explore and the variety is enormous. As with all artwork, we liked some better than others, but this was a great way to see a bit more of Des Moines. If you are in to Classic Cars,... More

The sculpture park is a nice place to take a walk in the city. I find some of the sculptures disturbing and difficult to understand. I am sure it is a wonderful place for people who enjoy that style of art.
