Open to visitors since September 2009, the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park features artwork by 22 of the world's most celebrated artists.

The 4.4 Acre park, located within a major crossroads of the urban grid, creates a pedestrian friendly entranceway to downtown Des Moines. This accessible setting, coupled with the skilled landscape design and caliber of the art, makes it unlike any other sculpture park in the United States. The Pappajohns' contribution of 28 works for the park is the most significant donation of artwork ever made to the Des Moines Art Center.

Fun for all ages.

Thought provoking and fun sculpture in a nice landscaped park in downtown Des Moines. After a little culture there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

Looking for something to do in Des Moines before our flight out. Every one we spoke with in Ames told us to stop by here. Some pretty neat looking sculptures, beautiful weather made for a nice visit.

This is a favorite spot to bring the teenage girls for photo shoots with their girlfriends. Very trendy and fun park to visit. Reminds you of something you would see in Chicago. Fun for all ages really.

The downtown Des Moines area opens up with a 4 acre sculpture park that was gifted to Des Moines from the private collection of John and Mary Pappajohn. The art is set off beautifully with the surrounding landscaping and there is something for everyone. Tours are available April to October. You can also take a cell phone tour on your... More

Downtown Des Moines is a great place to visit in the summer. The Pappajohn Sculpture Park area often has food vendors and is a great place to enjoy the outdoors at.

Our family walked around this park for over an hour. We got some exercise and the kids like the sculptures and all the Pokémon readily available. The grounds are very well taken care of also well lit at night.

Some of the sculptures were thought provoking and very well done. Others were... well, I'm not sure what they were lol. Given it was a cold grey day, my visit through the park was a quick one as I wanted to get back into warmth. All in all, it's a nice stop in the park in a beautiful city. Glad... More

Nice place to stop for a quick walk and a few pictures. The library is close and a Starbuck's on the same block. Fun places to eat close by. Great spot to take a stroll after dinner.

I am impressed by the art and architecture in downtown Des Moines. The Sculpture Garden is a great place for a stroll or to hangout while you have lunch.
