Open to visitors since September 2009, the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park features artwork by 22 of the world's most celebrated artists.

The 4.4 Acre park, located within a major crossroads of the urban grid, creates a pedestrian friendly entranceway to downtown Des Moines. This accessible setting, coupled with the skilled landscape design and caliber of the art, makes it unlike any other sculpture park in the United States. The Pappajohns' contribution of 28 works for the park is the most significant donation of artwork ever made to the Des Moines Art Center.

This is an interesting place to tour but I would not go great lengths to see it. Its about a square block in the downtown of a small city that is spread out. A nice social place for people to gather. Some sculptures were very interesting and others not so much. There is no fee and it is freely accessible.... More

I like the idea of having a park in a city to provide a place for people to gather and enjoy the outside and each other. The art was primarily abstract. The rainbow color panels was our favorite display.

I used to live downtown and walk around this area. Very interesting sculptures and designs; Totally worth the while and spending some time watching and enjoying a sunny day in the park. Its probably a 30 min visit, then just walk back downtown and enjoy the city life.

The sculptures are quite large. There is definitely a variety. An outdoor museum. There are paths that you can follow to them.

The bunny and the man made of letters are worth a quick stop and quarter for parking in anyone's book. Lovely set up and we were in an out in about 20 minutes...we aren't the type to ponder art!

We saw it when we were going to Exile Brewery and came back to check it out. It's a nice walk for a nice day and the sculptures are interesting, some amazing!

Pappajohn Sculpture Park is not just for the art crowd, but an excellent venue for all ages to enjoy. It has a variety of types of sculpture, all of varying sizes and shapes that can be enjoyed at several different angles of the park. It is very clean and well kept, downtown on Grand Avenue, and within walking distance to... More

This is a fun park with lots of neat sculptures. I liked the one with all the different colored glass that you can go inside. However, people really just go to catch lots of Pokemon. There were 4 lures in he park when I went, and the park was swarming with parents and kids playing the game. Every was having... More
