An amazing venue for children and adults alike! I know my level of anticipation equals the 5 grandkids 6-11 (I'm early 70's); have attended four years straight. We usually stay around two hours though could easily double that. Attending presentations are a highlight though the variety of hands-on activities easily satisfies the curiosity and energy of children.

Very nice place and lots of activities. After visiting with my teen, we realized she enjoyed it much more when she was younger. The new music area was enjoyable.

My wife and I went to visit the museum as new arrivals to Des Moines. The museum has great interactive exhibits for younger children (3-12, in my estimation), but is lacking anything for adults. Once we get some grandchildren, we will bring them to see.

We arrived at the Museum 15 minutes after they opened. The young man at the entrance was very polite and patient with us. Our children, ages 14, 10 and 5 enjoyed the exhibits and shows very much. Andrea did a wonderful job with her show about the digestive system and with working with the children at the building area. All... More

I spent a full Saturday here with four grandchildren aged 3 to 9. We were not in a hurry, so we enjoyed every room and exhibit for as long as the kids wanted. It was very interactive and interesting for them. Just large enough to have plenty of variety. We broke up the day by attending most of the presentations... More

We were in Des Moines for only one day. Went to The National Park Adventure movie, narrated by Robert Redford, which was playing at the IMAX Theater. What a fabulous show. You will fall in love with the National Park system and be beguiled by Mother Nature. We did not visit the SCI center at all, just went to the... More

I loved going here when I was a kid I love going their now. We have not been there since I was 11. I think they need more older kid activities to allow more aged families enjoy it to. The year I went s not on here so I picked the only one close enough. I'm 14 now to give... More

There were all ages for children to delight in. I went with the 10 year old with the electrical things. The 1 and 3 year old had an area of their own. It is well worth it to see!!!

We started with the IMAX Beautiful Planet show which was exciting and informative. Headed to the hands on tool area and then Legos. After to the activity area which included building Lego race cars with a 4 car racetrack, building a rocket and a dam to control the flow of water. Because we didn't arrive until 11:30 am, we were...
