Green heaven of Kinnaur
Aug 2019
The green oasis of Kinnaur, Bhabha valley is green heaven is largely barren Kinnaur landscapes. The road to Bhabha valley diverges from Wangtu on NH5. Take the right turn from Wangtu market and cross the Wangtu bridge. After 20km you will reach Kafnu, the heart of Bhabha valley

Place worth of exploration not just visit

To get the full experience, I would suggest people to go on a trek to Bhaba.Lush green, plains, mountains and my favourite water streams. Our trek was from a place called Kafnu and ended on the Pin valley side. You can't get a better view of Himachal than this. Make sure you are rain equipped because it happens a lot and we were lucky to experience mild hail too !!

Trek from kafnu
Aug 2016 • Family
Our guide is the most amazing person, kind, warm hearted, accommodating, helpful , learned man. He made our trip fantastic.
Billu Negi, our guide, arranged ponies, horse man, cook, kitchen tent, dining tent, even a toilet tent, and of course tents for us four, fresh sleeping bags, inflatable carry mats. We would begin our trek early each morning, leaving the cook and the horseman to wind up everything. Felt sad about it but there was not much option. Yet within two or three hours, they would catch up, overtake us, and set up the base in the next camp. Be ready with something hot, like paneer pakodas or fries or soup or kichadi.
Not trekking afternoon is a good rule our guide follows in the Himalayas. Rains, sudden change in weather all generally happens after 1 pm.
So early rising, early trek, early camping helped us explore the camp site surrounding so much better.
At times we even played Frisbee. Playing and thus breathing deep helps in high altitudes. Ensuring better protection agnst H. I. S
The camping sites at Mulling, Kara, Furtsaling are amazing. Especially mulling. In one view one can see bright white glaciers, waterfalls, steep mountain slopes, forest, pine trees, green pastures, bubbling icy river. This view from the tent as one peeps out.
Not another human in sight, no villages, no signs of civilization, no electricity. Just one with the nature in its simplest truest forms.
Yet fancy food by the cook, pasta, paranthas, rice, dal, sabjis, fried stuff, biscuits, chocolates, energy bars, dry fruits. Our guide took care of everything.
The treks are very easy, very mild, with very few steep stretches. Many many unpolluted fresh water springs are almost every half hour helped us keep hydrated. Ofcourse one could carry bottled ro water but why have that in the pure hills of Himalayas?
Flexibility is amazing so one can have the trek tailor made to suit any number of days.

Trip to Bhaba Valley
May 2013 • Friends
Lovely place to visit lots of Lush vegetation and some beautiful views and surprisingly populated area. The road to this place is diverted from Wangtoo just before the Power House, its very easy to miss it. Road is single lane and at times broken, but very lonely, the drops are enormous, but they make the views even more special.
Without any sign that you will find a small town, it seems the road has been forgotten. but on entering the valley (katgaon nd then kafnu) you find shops for almost all the necessities, though don't expect very clean places to eat. The lake is small, and beautiful but also artificial. There is smaller power house by the side of the Dam which spills water into the lake, making the view special.
Though the road doesn't end here the route goes to a small village and then starts the trek to Pin valley. Three day trek takes you to Kaza. Didin't have time to go for the trek.
Overall Nice place but only scenic and no more attractions. Carry your own food and petrol. Don't drink and drive the road is a sure shot Killer. Have a good camera. Place takes around 1-2hrs from wangtoo.
