--and not just of Grant Wood. I was not impressed by him as an artist until I came here, learned more about him, his close study of Renaissance and German painters (Durer, Memling), his poverty. I appreciate him more now, I'll tell ya. Tip 1: See his studio! Makes his life come alive Tip 2: Come in the summer! Admission... More

The building itself if worth the trip. A wonderful job of joining the old and the new as you transition from one to the other. Their displays are of the highest quality in every art form. Easy access for handicapped people with a delightful gift shop. Certainly not a waste of time and a growing experience for your life's journey.

If you haven't taken advantage of "free weekends" at the Art Museum you have missed out. Some of the best pieces of art and right here in our city! Gift shop, too, is a must to visit.

We live in Cedar Rapids and love our museum. Last week we had a visitor from Utah and, of course, we took him to the museum. He warned us he's not one to spend much time in museums, but we could hardly get him out of the place once he discovered the Diego Lasansky exhibit. Go! You can't find a... More

The C R art museum is housed in a wonderful building and sports a permanent collection of Grant Wood paintings, Mauricio Lasansky prints, and much more. The rotating exhibits are always worthwhile. We recently saw an astounding ceramics collection there. Not crowded, every amenity, entirely pleasant and fun.

Very nice exhibit to document Grant Wood's life. The museum claims to have the most Wood's work in the world (say that slowly). However, only a portion is on display due to limited space. Friendly, helpful staff.

lovely blend of old and new architecture and worth a visit if only for that. But has interesting eclectic collection of permanent art and often the temporary shows are really worth it.

Another interesting part of Cedar Rapids history as this building was originally a Carnegie library. Don't overlook this visually accessible, and functional museum of art. It includes a small, well done snapshot of the work of Grant Woods inspiration and life trajectory, in addition to other surprising exhibits.

The building alone is a visual feast! By all means, GO! Of course you will find Grant Wood, but there are also several other fabulous artists! The gift shop is diversified and well stocked with a superbly educated staff! GO!
