Why has the NTS not put up a closed sign at the gate and on their web site. It was a down right disgrace the state of the gardens and fences over a steep drop. If I could Gardens run down broken fences over steep drops. Not posted on website that it was closed. Who’s in charge

Response from Grant M, Manager at The David Livingstone Centre

Hi Audrey Apologies for delay in getting back to you and sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience in May at the Centre. I just wanted to let you know that following your visit we have commenced on a major refurbishment project, that will see the Museum, Café and retail spaces upgraded so that are fit for purpose and provide visitors with a welcoming, informative and enjoyable experience. You can keep up to date with our progress at our website https://www.david-livingstone-trust.org/ The site is no longer operated by National Trust for Scotland and the David Livingstone Trust have been successful in getting a £6.1 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Environment Scotland and the Scottish Government which will allow us to ensure that the site is fit for purpose and for our visitors to enjoy. I do appreciate your comments and for the areas of the site which are accessible to the public (much of the site is now barriered off as the building works have commenced) we are looking to ensure these are maintained. I hope this provides some context and that you may be able to visit us in the future when the site works are complete. Thank you for taking time to provide your comments. Kind Regards David Livingstone Trust
