Diverse collection with no specialization, tries to be a big city posh gallery but really would like to see more focus in the collection. Parking is difficult - very little street parking. Staff was friendly. Free admission masked required.

A great art museum that you wouldn't expect to find in such a small city. I'm glad I took advantage of it and my friend from out of town enjoyed it too. Especially loved seeing the Warhol.

Beautiful examples of area artists from past and present. Super kind staff and very welcoming. Look for lectures and others special events.

We are so blessed to have such an amazing art museum in Terre Haute! In this historic building, you will find floors of art and sculptures from many different periods. My favorite artist is Edward Hopper and they have a wonderful piece by him. Don't miss out on this free art museum in downtown Terre Haute. Donations are accepted.

I went there with kids and grandkids. Everyone said that they really enjoyed it. The art was all so meaningful and the staff was very attentive and knowledgeable! I would definitely recommend stopping in here!

A great little hidden gem of a museum. Not very big, and if you aren't studying the art work, then you'll only need about an hour. Staff linger, but don't be put off by it. Some items including A. Warhol is priceless, so accept it and move on. Plenty to see for a nice artful afternoon! Worth a stop!

We almost missed this little gem of a museum, make sure you don't. They have static art and revolving. We were there when they had some Andy Warhol pieces! I found a "new" artist I loved John Cox! Wow! His paintings look 3D with brilliant colors! Anyways, take a 15-25 minutes to see this art museum...Loved it!

I had a few hours to spend downtown, and chose to go to the Swope. It was well run, (free!-donation requested) and had a wide variety in their collection. I wish I would have had more time to spend here, and will definitely come back! There is an excellent exhibition there now, by an artist by the last name of Koch, who did many residencies with Edward Hopper. It was very interesting. Not a place for kids, but great for young teens or adults interested in art, or for a day out with a friend...then go get pie down the street!

Few small American art museums are as good as this one. It is small, but it contains fine examples of American art including Edward Hopper and Thomas Hart Benton. Located in downtown Terre Haute, it is a pleasant hour and a half visit, uncrowded, quiet and perfect for thinking about what you are seeing.

Fun stop while dropping the teens at college! Not too big, not too small, just right. Both my college age and 8th grader found things they liked.
