Stopped by here on a college visit in 2019. My daughter fell in love with the school and I prayed for her acceptance. I also said quite a few other prayers that day - all were heard and answered. I try to stop by here with each returning visit. It is calming, spiritual, and healing. Even if you are not religious person there is something very special about the Grotto.

This was a very special and peaceful place. It is a nice spot to stop and get away from the hustle and bustle of campus and to take a quick breath and moment of silence.

What a great place for a quiet moment to reflect. Even though it is a spot for “tourists”, everyone is respectful and quiet.

WHile it is an iconic spot on the ND campus. It is a special place to reflect, say a prayer, and just have some quiet time.

Great area to begin or end a tour of Notre Dame. We were there for my nieces lacrosse game and decided to roam around the campus for a bit.

A nice quiet spot below the basilica that offers visitors a place for contemplation and prayer. It’s a replica of the real Grotto in France (but only ‪1/7th‬ the size of the original). I stopped by on a rainy day, and even then there were people lighting candles inside, kneeling and praying, and some just standing still to take it all in.

Nostalgic place to visit at Notre Dame university; light a candle to gather your thoughts to be at peace with yourself regardless of your religion. One can put life in perspective and release the stresses of everyday life!

A very special place to visit on Notre Dame's campus. It's a quiet and somber place where you can light a candle for a loved one and reflect in thought and prayer while visiting. They suggested donation to light a candle is $3 but's a free-will offering. It was very peaceful place and it's powerful to see people, including many students, take a break from their jog or daily routine to stop briefly, reflect and pray.

After praying for about 20 minutes with my girl friend. I looked up at her, pulled out a ring and asked her to marry me. She said, "Yes"!!!!!!. made my day of course. Best part of the campus is right here at The Grotto

You can’t come to ND without stopping at the Grotto. It is a favorite of every student and a must see on campus.
