We came here to ride the carousel, but we enjoyed walking through the shops too. We liked the old-time flavor of many of them, and bought a few special things at the music store. The carousel was carved by an Amish family in the area that they put on a 1905 Dentzel frame. It’s very nice, and the only carousel I’ve ever seen with sheep on it. The animals have been kept in very good condition. We did have one thing that bothered us. We’re members of the National Carousel Association and if possible like to take a moment to talk with the operator as well as take pictures. We were shoved on and off the carousel so quickly it was hard to take very many pictures of these wonderful works of art, and we really didn’t feel comfortable talking with the man running the carousel. We ended up taking a picture of our usual family in front of the carousel rather than on it.

21 different stores with items for the ladies. A couple booths with food. Mostly for the ladies. The mercantile is very nice & all new items for sale. Guys mostly found benches on the bottom floor & allowed the ladies to shop.

We made a quick trip to Shipshewana for Labor Day weekend. Davis Mercantile is a great place to shop. Lots of options. We especially liked the puzzle shop and the toy store. There is a great little restaurant on the top floor as well.

This 4 level shopping experience actually is nice. The whole place is very well kept and neat and clean. It has almost any kind of kitsch, knick knack or souvenir you want. It also has a couple stand out places, like the outdoor gear store on the basement level. And a surprisingly good coffee shop on the main level. They have a great selection and are willing to make you almost anything you can think of. And, of course, when visiting a new place, its always nice to know where the nice clan bathrooms are, as well!

Had 11 members of my family, walking around Shipshewana and decided to go into Davis Mercantile. Can't say how much fun we all had. From the front door you see a tall tree that goes up all 3 levels an exits a hole in the room. The music shop can hold its own and more to most places I have seen. There was a very talented woman playing the delcemer. The kids were so excite by the many easily affordable things for kids. The music selection of cd's was wonderful. But onward into the numerous stores. Some retro, some clothing, some candy stores, and primate stores that look fresh from log cabin's. Oh and don't let me forget the toy store...and on the top level was a large carousel for the kids. $5.00 for 3 kids for a comfortably long ride. A wonderful must see and shop when visiting Amish country....more updates soon

We usually spend time in the music store Simple Sounds and did so again this year. Good building to go to with family as the top floor has a merry-go-round, pretzel place to snack and restrooms.

I’ll admit I’m not much of a shopper so this was not much fun for me. Nothing original in here, just expensive boutique shops. I will admit that the puzzle store was impressive. I’ll look for shopping In The future with more authentic Amish made items.

Our destination was Lolly's Fabrics, which did not disappoint. There was a large selection of fabrics and great quilt projects on display, which led us to purchase a number of patterns. Of course, on our way to find the restroom, we found a music shop with unique musical gifts to be purchased.

I am very disappointed that there are NO local vendors in this place, its full of over priced, "Brighton" type things. The clothes are even over priced. I wish they had local fares here and supported the community more than items from China. If I wanted to shop for high end items I could have done that at home. I think they would do better business having things that were made local. Just MY opinion.

I love the Mercantile shops! We always have to stop and get candy. I did not see that anyone has mentioned that the carousel horses were all hand carved by one local youth, all but two by the same person I believe. It's amazing to see no matter what, but once you know that it makes it that much more special. We go to Shipshewana once or twice a year, and this is a must-stop.
