It's a medieval quadrangular castle situated in a small town Mardakan (nor far from Baku). There is nothing inside but castle itself is well-preserved. You can feel the spirit of medieval military castle that withstood attacks of khan Tokhtamysh at the end of 14th century....More

It is a pity than the fortress was closed for renovation but even from outside it is an impressive place with a balance between Cristian and Arabic elements. If you are around it is worth the visit even if it is closed inside

Interesting to a very, very short degree. Plan on spending less than an hour here and definitely watch your step. The grounds are full of huge holes that are uncovered and very deep. Could be quite dangerous. Beautiful old tower, however.
