I spent a couple of days in Sreemongal with Tapas visiting the tea gardens, seeing the forests, and going out into the wetlands in a small boat. Tapas was the perfect guide, fun to be around, knowledgable, and pleasant. I saw a lot of wildlife, met a wonderful lady who is over a hundred years old, got to try my hand at pottery in a small village, and experience the local cuisine and have excellent tea. Tapas took care of me and made me feel totally comfortable and as if I was being shown around by a lifelong friend. I've since had a few different guides in the Sunderbans, Khulna, Bagerhat, and Bogura, and none of them have come close to being as helpful or pleasant as Tapas and Green Leaf Eco Tourism. I only wish he could have been my guide for the whole month. Perhaps next trip I will try to arrange for just that.
If you're coming to Bangladesh as a foreign tourist, I would say that you have to book Tapas for at least part of your journey. His passion for eco tourism and his community is remarkable.
And to be fair, even though he wasn't my guide in other parts of Bangladesh, he still kept in touch and even facilitated me getting in touch with guides and tours in other parts of the country. He is an invaluable resource.
