We fell in love with the Zarra tree house villa online and chose to stay for two nights at this beautiful island (family of four with a 9 year old and 1 year old).
Lets start with the positives. The island is stunning. Chicas beach is just as picture perfect as you see on the website. Even during the winter holidays, the day visitors didn't overcrowd the two beaches on the island. The food was good and plentiful. The tree house is beautiful and was such a treat to stay in. There was a small shower (hot water) and toilet on the same level as the beds. The bedroom had a queen size bed and a single bed and we were able to fit with our one year old sleeping with us, as no baby bed was available. The night time crabbing and shrimp catching was a hit with out nine year old! A fun activity if you're up for it.
Sadly, there were some negatives. Very few of the staff speak English so please keep that in mind. The staff were generally very helpful, but no one came to clean our room on the second day, and as there was no phone in the room and we were out of the room most of the afternoon, we ended up not asking, but it would have been appreciated. The tree house villa is a few years old now and as it is on a tree and not a stable foundation, the room is tilted and you'll find that you're sleeping with your head to the lower side of the room with your feet slightly higher. If you're prone to headaches, this may not be for you. Also, it is not toddler friendly. Our son was excited to climb all over but his head fit through the railing, so we had to hold his hand all the time which he didn't enjoy. There are locks (using a key) that allow you to lock all the doors so that they can't be opened from the inside. This isn't safe in the event of an emergency, but it did keep our toddler from escaping the room by himself. Our second night was a Friday and there were several groups staying overnight and they all enjoyed karaoke after dinner. Unfortunately, as the karaoke was in the dining area, with no walls, we could hear it all too clearly even though our villa was the farthest away. They also had bags of fireworks which I think they intended to use after karaoke, but the rain interfered with their plans. If you are looking for a quiet nature retreat, avoid the weekends... And yes, there is no wi-fi. And finally, there was a resident rat in our room...
In all, if we do go back, it will most likely be for a day trip and if we were to stay overnight, we'd choose a villa rather than the tree house (they're building two more new villas) as they're more spacious and less likely to have some of the problems we encountered. If staying a tree house is your dream, then maybe just one night?

Leebong Island is definitely our most memorable highlight during our seven-day trip to Belitung.

Due to the season at the time we were there, most of the beaches we covered around the Belitung Island were not clean (with Algae) and taking the cue from a local tip at Belitung, we tried our luck to go for a day trip to Leebong Island.

Indeed, it was beyond our expectation! After a trip to the mangrove and white sand beach, we found Leebong Island's pristine clear water, the serenity of nature, birds watching, and kayaking were keeping us excited through the day.

I want to highlight the outstanding hospitality of the Crews of the Island, everyone is attentive and friendly to ensure we were having a great time there, even though we are supposed to be just a day-tripper of the Island. I would also like to thank the Crew again for successfully finding my wife's iPhone and my father in-law's Oakley sunglass that they dropped during the activities.

We ended up stay for a night in the Island, having fun hunting for prawns and crabs together with the Island Crews at night, to be served as part of our sumptuous seafood dinner.

The downside was.. that we need to catch our flight home the next day :)

Everyone was happy. We are sincerely very grateful to spend our last 2 days of the trip on the island and having splendid moments at Leebong Island, thank you!

The villa was very nice and clean, then we also got free facilities there, such as bicycles, kayaks boat, pedals boat , and also volleyball. The food is also really good, I recommend you to try the sesame fried banana! It was very delicious 👍👍. The service is also really good and all of the crew was very kind and humble, Leebong Island is the best anyway for me personally 😍🥰

We stayed a couple of nights at the 2-Bedroom villa and we found everything perfect. The island is quiet and has all the amenities you may expect (kayak, snorkel, etc). The staff is extremely friendly and made our stay very special.

A couple of excursions are included: mangroves and Pulau pasir (Sand island), which are AMAZING. (Bring your camera!!!)

I cant wait to come back!

I had a last minute plan for my new year vacation and decided to visit Belitung island. After hours of searching in the internet, I had some good ideas on the list of things to do and go in the island. On my list, I included an overnight stay at Leebong island, a small island to the west of Belitung, about 15 - 20 minutes boat ride from the nearby port. Seemed it was a new destination as I did not see many reviews of this island but all the recent reviews seemed to be positive.

After an early morning pick up from my hotel at Tanjung Pandan, we drove south for about 45 min to the Tanjung Ru port, where we continued the journey by speedboat to Leebong. It was a smooth transfer and when we arrived at the island, we were greeted by the staff. All the facilities were clearly explained and my wife and I were guided to see our room....yes, it was a charming wooden tree house! I found the building was sturdy, all the facilities inside and amenities were excellent: hot/cold shower, good mattress and pillows, power outlets, drawers, etc...even they had 24 hours electricity (I've been to other places like this, usually the electricity was turned from evening until early morning only), and reasonable wifi signal (well, at the end, I mostly used internet from my phone carrier since somehow it was faster and more stable)....there was also a balcony with nice and comfy chairs...last but not least I found the room was clean and well maintained...

Like other reviewers mentioned, a lot of things you can do in the island....kayaking, paddle boarding, biking, pingpong, volley, etc....or if you decide to do nothing, you are also free to do so :-). There are two beaches that you can access in the island, the front one and the back one. Both are crystal clear and clean...kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards were provided and all in good condition, including life vest if you decide to wear one...

I spent half of the morning in the back beach, it has nice gazebos in the water (about 100 m from the shore) that you can reach by swimming, kayaking or even walking (about one meter depth)...the air was fresh, the water was clean, the sky was blue...it was just perfect :-)...and then around noon I returned to the tree house, and had a nice lunch in the restaurant...for afternoon activity, I chose to visit the mangrove area, and the hotel staff was ready with the boat and took me there, we also visited the shoal/tidal sandbar (gosong pasir) nearby...finished with the mangrove trip, we spent late afternoon with kayaking in the front beach...you could see and find hundreds, if not thousands, of starfish just few meters off the shore...btw, there were hammocks on the sea as well, so in the low tide, you could lying on the hammock with sea water underneath you...

Done with the kayaking and back to the lovely tree house, we had a quick shower, and enjoyed dinner at the main restaurant...after that, I thought the day was done but I was wrong...the staff asked me if I was interested to join them 'hunting' the shrimps and crabs on the sea...and I said why not, so me and my wife joined them...there were seven of us that night...we were equipped with the head light and fish net...turned out it was really fun and enjoyable activity...at night the tide was low, so you could walk hundreds meter or even 1 km off the shore...we learned how to spot the crab or shrimp or other sea creatures stranded on the shallow water, which one that was worth to catch, and how to properly catch them (they were quick!)....at one point, we also spot and caught a young 'hiu tokek' (zebra/leopard shark) about 60 cm long, not like other shark species, this one moved slowly and was not harmful, and after a quick look, we released it back to the sea...it was so much fun and lots of learning, so we ended up spending about 2 hours of 'night hunting' :-)...guess what, the crabs and shrimps we caught that night, were served as part of our breakfast menu in the following morning...

Overall, I am very pleased with my visit and my stay at Leebong island. Good, clean, and well maintained facilities, crystal clear and turquoise beaches, attentive and welcoming staff, many activities and things to do (or not to do anything, if you decide so). If you happen to visit Belitung, I will wholeheartedly recommend this place to be part of your itinerary...even if you can not stay in the island, you can opt to have a day trip to Leebong.

This new-ish resort island is definitely on my repeat-visit list after staying there for one night. Clear, calm waters, and free from sea urchins makes a very pleasant swim. The facilities in this island is also quite good, proper toilets and showers on the beach and on the public areas surely help the day-trippers to clean themselves after playing in the sea. We stayed in Chikas villa and really appreciate the huge balcony at the 2nd floor. Bathrooms are nice and clean, with rain shower fitted as an addition to normal hand-held showers. We also love the food (dinner and breakfast are included in the one-night stay package, and we opted to also get lunch there before heading back to the airport for an addition of IDR 125.000/person).

To get to Leebong you need to get to Pelabuhan Tanjung Ru, which is about 35-40 minutes away from the city, and then a short boat ride away. The island is only 15 minutes away from the Pelabuhan, however the boat will take the long route around to show you around the mangrove forests, and also made a quick stop at Pulau Pasir, a sand bar in the area (which they fitted with hammock and swings if you're big on Instagram pics).

While the island is beautiful and facilities are excellent, it's important to note that we were lucky that on the day of our stay, there's only one other (small) group staying in the island. We were told they had a full house the day before, and judging from the noise level during the day-trip visitors arrived, I don't think it'd be a very relaxing stay. (The staff had games etc at the restaurant for the day-trip visitors, so it can get too loud especially if you're looking for a quiet island holiday). The "ambient" music playing on loop continuously at the restaurant can probably be toned down just a touch (or at least play something that is more island-y?)

I also agree with another reviewer here with the "excessive attention" from the staff, and while it's not really a negative thing and some people's opinion may differ, I think perhaps it can also be toned down a little. However, the staff are indeed friendly and very helpful, and definitely did not subtract from our experience in the island.

Side note: I've noticed that there are a lot of starfishes in the beach/sea surrounding the island, and Leebong's social media posts in the past seem to encourage visitor to play and handle/remove them from water for a photo-op. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT. I've seen many island ecosystems in surrounding Jakarta area ruined in part because of irresponsible visitors doing just that, and with Leebong being so clean and pristine, it's important for the island to also increase awareness to visitors to help it stay that way.

First time we arrived, We are thrilled to see the white beach with hammocks in the middle of the sea.. Really makes us want to stay at the beach for all day.

The staff are very nice. They welcome each of us and check every little things we need in our tent. And.. Our tent is great!

I am a fish lover.. So I should give five stars for the chef also.. Really love their "pepes" (steamed fish wrapped with simpor leaf) They really pampered
us by giving 6 main course for 5 of us.

We were cycling around to see the other beach at the other side of the island.. Another awesome view.. We were lucky to see a lot of starfish with beautiful sunset..

Kayaking around the island that surrounded by mangrove forest was also a great experience that you can enjoy in here.. And you should try the paddle board, since the tide level in this island is not too high..it is safe also to bring your kids here.

It was a great experience for us. I definetely will come again to bring my family.. It is an awesome island with a stunning view and friendly staff.

Hope to see u again. Leebong!
