About
Community Veterans Memorial is a 6.5 acre park featuring bronze and granite sculptures, and life-size monuments to depict the major military conflicts that shaped the 20th Century. The memorial imparts a reflective and provocative vision for peace. From the trenches of World War I through the Pacific beaches and European battles of World War II, the extreme weather and combat conditions of Korea, the rugged brutal fire fights of Vietnam, and the sandy sea of Desert Storm, the memorial pays the highest tribute to all veterans. A commemorative brick pathway leads visitors on their journey through history. Individuals and groups are invited to take self-guided tours in which several stations provide pre-recorded information about the defining wars of the 20th Century. Guided tours are also available.

I was so happy to be able to take my 96 year old friend to the Memorial Day observance. He was so thrilled to participate in such a moving event. Being a paratrooper in World War II he is very proud of his service and was excited to meet other veterans from all wars. I was so impressed with the speakers, the music and entire program. I will be bringing him to the Memorial Day observance every year that he is able to come.

This is an excellent experience. It's bigger than we expected. We took some friends there from Florida and they were very impressed. Took me back to my tour in Viet Nam.

I was here a few years ago just to check it out, I was total astonished when I seen for myself the stories of these courageous men and women who had fought for our freedom. It is a must see and don't just walk through and say ok I've been here really take the time to experience it.

An excellent educational exhibit for all ages to enjoy our past war history and other historic dates lining the paths in the park.

A great summer activity for parents to take their children or grand children to visit.

This is a well designed memorial park; located across the street from Centennial Park. I seem to remember that when it was being built that it went over budget and took longer to complete. Of course it took time to be able to get the helicopter and plane parts OK'd from the agency they were acquired from.

This memorial does NOT cover all of the conflicts that this country has been involved in. It covers the conflicts that occurred in the 1900's. So that means it starts with WW1 through to the gulf conflict under president Bush.

This memorial is well done in its tribute to all that have served in the military. It is a self guided walk through the displays. It you bother to look at the bricks on the ground you will see the names of people that served. If you want your name or the name of a loved one, just call the Munster town hall and they will send you the paper work. Near the parking lots there is a small pavilion with restrooms.

The Community Veterans Memorial is a perfect road trip stop. Located only 2 1/2 miles south of I80/94 at the Calumet Avenue exit in Munster, IN, the Memorial is easily accessible. The pathway that winds through the Memorial park setting is also a time-line marking historic events from WWI to the present. Monuments, including a helicopter from Vietnam and various bronze displays, mark significant conflicts of the 20th Century. Audio is available at various stops a long the path.Veterans and history buffs will really enjoy a stop at the Veterans Memorial.

I had driven by this Memorial many times and never knew what I was missing. A walking Memorial tour of all wars, an opportunity to pray and reflect on our liberty and the men and women who won it for us.
