The emblematic place of Paraguayan Catholicism. Very beautiful architecture. Nothing to envy similar spaces in other countries. Caacupe is a very green and fresh space.
Every December 8th the congregation of worshippers takes place there with people from all over the country. The area becomes impassable within a radius of at least 15 kilometres. The negative note is the presence of car keepers and street vendors.

The official name is: Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Miracles.
This modern church is very impressive. Pilgrims come here. The design allows a lot of people to worship together - with more thousands outside.
The windows are particularly good.
Next to the church, at the underground level is a small museum. The artifacts displayed were interesting but I didn't feel that it was worth the entry fee.

Ok maybe not modern but not historic. This catedral is Paraguay's spiritual centre for Catholics.
The view from the observation balcony are worth the walk up, and the paintings on the walls on the stairs tell a facinating story.

In this small town not far from Asuncion is this huge cathedral which was consecrated by the Pope in 1988. It feels like the religious centre of the country with its huge open are in front for large crowds to gather and pray.

This Cathedral is well worth a visit if you’re in Caacupe it’s easy to find, and has beautiful stain glass windows throughout. Wether you are a religious person or not it’s a lovely peaceful place to be, recommended.

A nice and tranquil city. The place is recent but you feel the spiritual spirit. A small and nice city. We found a nice hotel Just facing the basilica for 50,000 gusts is each. This was really nice to spend a full day here.

This Trip was done in August 2014. We arrived in the early morning and had Mass celebrated in the Chapel.Visited the Church afterward and the Stained Glass provides brilliance to an already well adorned church. Such magnificence.
