We enjoyed a lovely stop and tasting at Golden Drop.
We were the only patrons there and all CoVid procedures are being followed.
Was very close to harvest time and quite warm
Came away with the Port, the Sparkling and a cello.
Well worth a stop.
Lovely family business.

Knew of Mareeba's Italian background and that I could get some mangocello in there area.
Saw the sign, couldn't miss it so popped in. Knew what I wanted so set about a tasting that the nonnas set out. Loved the fact they thought this 5th generation Skip was also Italian! Bit of banterin Italian between my wife, myself and the ladies...lots of laughs and a talk about the farm followed.
Walked out with a few bottles and a Grazie e ciao.
Would definitely go back and also highly recommend a visit and tasting.

It's a bit of a drive from the main road but it's worth it. It's a quite peaceful little place, and staff are very friendly and welcoming. They have a few different types of mango wine and liqueur, some sweet and some dry, but the liqueurs were probably our favourites, or cello as they called them, like different flavoured limoncello, we walked away with a bottle of lime cello & a bottle of dragonfruit cello, both were delicious.

We dropped into this winery for a tasting of fruit wine. They had a good range of mango wines, liqueurs and bubbly as well as citric fruit wine.

The lady serving us in the wine tasting was very friendly and informative.

Firstly we arrived late- 4.30pm- and we were walked through an eiree deserted factory to a tiny shed at the back staffed by the Madam Tussaud (for all personality she had)

The kids love mangos and were thrilled to be on a mango plantation. But this tiny shed had nothing for them... the dazzlingly tacky displays of wines and other gaudy items were off limits to them and they were frowned at for asking if there was any mangos to buy (the cheek!)

We spotted an advert for some mango ice cream. The maniquin did inform us that these were actually for sale. So we grabbed some and ran. We also tried the wine. God it's awful. We got a bottle to give as a secret Santa to the boss we don't like.

In all it was comical. So so bad. This is the opposite of quality Australian cuisine, wine and hospitality.

Go there. And ask for a mango.

I totally agree with the guy who writes about the really grumpy lady. I had thought we must have visited on a bad day, but obviously, this is the normal service.

Not a pleasant experience at all.

We thought mango wine will very interesting. But it was a long drive into the winery, walk to their tasting place also looks scary (no one around and you have to press buzzer at the entrance then keep walking). All the wines we tried was very average. Not recommended.

We stopped off here for a visit hoping for a pleasant end to our day.
On arrival we were met by a sign and dutifully rang the buzzer to announce our arrival and followed the arrows to a small tin tasting room within a part of the winery. We were greeted (well actually we weren’t greeted!) by a display of their produce and some really rather tacky plastic decorations and no words of welcome. The women who was conducting the tasting was austere and looked decidedly like she would rather be somewhere else and abruptly asked if we wanted to sample some wines. At this point we should have turned on our heels but we stayed. We sampled a couple of wines before noticing a large sign that advised non purchasers of any of their wines would be charged $8.00 for the rather dubious pleasure of partaking in this miserable event! The lady running the sampling was not forthcoming with any information about the wines or the plantation. We had to drag a few facts out of her before giving up. Seriously a change of occupation would do her and the winery a great service.
Give this place and its wines a swerve

Driving along Port Douglas' Tableland we discovered a gem. Tucked away from the main road is a Golden Drop Winery. Established and still operated by Nastasi Family it is beautiful place to visit. We learned a lot about the history and ups and downs of the mango wine production. Tasted excellent wines, port and dragon fruit liqueur. And obviously joined the member's club. We will now have mango sparkling for Christmas.
