About
Afsluitdijk Wadden Center is a modern experience center about the Afsluitdijk and the ongoing battle of de dutch citizens with water. Here we want to tell the story about the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Fish Migration River, the future Afsluitdijk and the IJsselmeer. Downstairs you can find Restaurant SKOM. Here you can relax after a visit with lunch, or coffe with cake. And ofcourse enjoy the beautiful view of the IJsselmeer.

An excellent place to visit. Lots of interactive displays which were interesting and engaging; we really enjoyed our visit. The restaurant/cafe is great too. Food is well presented and staff very friendly.

It was an unplanned visit and turned out to be a high light of the holiday. It is a marvellous piece of engineering and well worth the time to learn more about the dyke.
The app is easy to use and the children enjoyed using it.
The cafe had lovely food

Although the topic was not that appealing for our teenager, she was really enthousiast afterwards. Nice mix of entertainment with enough information for the grown ups.

All three combinations are to enjoy, a free interactive museum on the Afsluitdijk history and future, great self service restaurant, with seating with awesome views on the Zuiderzee. The menus isn’t that big but well composed. We had Kibbeling, typical Dutch deep fried fish dish with French fries, Calamaris and some Rose wine. One cannot wish for more. Up stairs, one visits the museum. Free WiFi available and plenty of car park. Recommended.

We crossed Afsluitdijk, what a feat of Engineering to hold the sea back and controlling the water ways of the area, the center had not been open long, but still interesting of how they constructed the dyke, the road way goes on a long way over the sea.

It had only been open three weeks when we stumbled upon it. You can walk to the top and take pictures. It has solar panels. There is a nice selfservice cafeteria downstairs. The exposition is free but if you want the app that can lead you along the works of art in a different language than Dutch there is a fee of € 3,50. That is a bit strange. Liked the art on wood with maps. Cool!
The 'show' room with beautiful sound and vision has not enough seating.
