What a shame...
Feb 2020
Such a shame that what is a place of exquisite natural beauty and tranquillity is made unbearable due to the constant and extremely loud echo of cheap two stroke chainsaws and leaf blowers all around as grounds people use cheap machines during visiting hours. This is all you hear walking round, if you can imagine the drone of loud chainsaws. The operators are all walking around with ear muffs for the sound. I visited on a few occasions hoping that it was a temporary problem however each time was the same and I had to promptly leave before enjoying the garden. Unacceptable in my view and whoever is managing this garden obviously is not the correct person, and who does not understand the concept

Peace and Tranquility

Next to the Shuttleworth airfield and hangers, containing magnificent aircraft of yester year, you would never realise what a wonderful garden Old Warden has concealed. Beautifully maintained, very accessible for all, pushchairs or wheelchairs, and with some "magical" features to stimulate young minds.

Interesting gardens

Well worth a visit if you are already at Shuttleworth. The fern grotto is very cool and helped inspire our own fern garden.

A Summer Wedding
Jul 2018 • Family
My daughter and new son in law were married at Swiss Gardens. The venue is simply beautiful. They were married in the cottage, an intimate venue with room for 20 family inside and guests stood around the cottage and watched the ceremony from the windows and doors. After the ceremony we had a drinks reception on the lawn, with colourful roses and trees around us giving us plenty of shade, much needed on a very hot summers day. Simply idyllic. A wander around the gardens, watching the resident peacock, strolling over the pretty bridges crossing lakes and streams, and spending time walking through the grotto all added to the days enjoyment. We can’t praise enough the wonderful Georgia French who helped organise the day. Her advice, enthusiasm and hard work made the day magical. Simply a wonderful place to visit with the family. Absolutely magical,

A Hidden Gem of a garden
Oct 2017 • Couples
The adjoining aerodrome and aeroplane collection are perhaps more famous, but the Shuttleworth museum site includes an historic and beautiful garden which dates back centuries and has been recently renovated. The 'Swiss' element of the garden comes from the elevated mounds for planting and a series of small buildings, such as a 'Swiss Cottage'. The atmosphere is tranquil (at least we didn't hear much air traffic), and this provided a low-key and refreshing stop-off on a longer journey up the A1. The canteen (shared with the other attractions on-site) is excellent as well.
