My family and I took a day trip to the Holiday Inn Select and Caribbean Cove Water Park to find out what all the buzz was about and to get away from life for a little bit. We went on a Thursday because weekday rates for the package is $139, as opposed to the Friday rate of $199 and the Saturday rate of $229 for the time of the year we went. I have left a review for the hotel with TripAdvisor as well, so read that if this isn't enough to sway your decision.
I was a bit underwhelmed by the park. The pictures and commercials leave you thinking its this massive place that has tons for the whole family to do. That's simply not the case. It has a lazy river, a children's Pirate Ship play area, a "sports" pool (basketball goals), 2 body slides and 1 tube slide, and 2 hot tubs. I feel that since its the first indoor water park in the Central Indiana area it gets away with having a dearth of activities and pools. They tout 50,000 sq ft as being a lot of room, but considering a decent-sized grocery store is at least that size, you begin to question if there is a lot to do just by the numbers alone.
Caribbean Cove guests are met with some stark restrictions the minute they book their package. First off, check-in for the hotel is 4pm, and this is strict. Check-out time is also a strict 11am (but if you're an ICHotels Priority Club member, you can up your check-out to 1pm). Now, to accommodate guests who want to have a fun-filled time at the park, the hotel allows guests to start their check-in at 11am and gain admittance to the park. Now, because you have no room, you have to use the locker room/showers that are provided...and these are appalling. The locker room is located separate of the water park and is about the size of a small bedroom. Luckily we waited until check-in to go to the park, but I did check out the facilities and they were crammed with guests changing. The shower/bathrooms are located on the south-end of the park and are equally as small. In the men's room, there are 2 toilet stalls (one regular and one handicapped), a small urinal for boys and a regular urinal for men. Then there's 1 regular shower and 1 handicapped shower. That's it. This place fills up pretty full and yet they only include 2 showers. Granted I understand their point in you should be a guest of the hotel and already have a room to shower in, but they post rules stating you should shower before entering the pool and after using the restroom...so going by this directive, these showers, in theory, should be packed at all times.
As you walk into the park, you're assaulted by a Caribbean-themed hot tub and beach store. The store included all the various items you'd expect. Logo-covered clothing, swim attire, water shoes, nose and ear plugs, etc. Everything was priced a little high, but nothing you wouldn't expect from a theme park. The hot tub had a rocky backdrop and a waterfall. It looked like a grotto.
On the left as you walk in, you see a set of stairs. At the top of the stairs is the snack hut and arcade. The arcade had an impressive array of ticket-dispensing games of "skill" and some of the latest in video game entertainment. At the prize redemption counter, my wife remarked that the prizes and their values were better than that of Chucky Cheese's. I'll take her word for it. Now we come to the park itself.
This place was just an utter disappointment to me. First off, several of the "activities" in the children's area were off-limits (a sprial slide and a toddler's island slide...why they were off limits is beyond me, as they both looked to be in working condition). The water in the children's pool was a lot cooler than I expected, especially for water only being a foot deep. Parts of the floor felt slimey, and I watched in horror as my youngest took a head dive down the stairs because of said slime. The lifeguard, although very attractive, didn't seem too concerned about anything other than the way her body "moved" whenever guests of the male persuasion walked past.
The hot tubs were obviously too hot for children, so why they put in 2 is beyond me. Since each could accommodate 15 people at a time each, I'd figure the one in the "grotto" would suffice. The other hot tub is located by the lazy river and is pretty drab, surroundings-wise.
The lazy river was probably the best part, and that's not saying much. For those who have never been in a lazy river, its essentially a concrete "river" that guests traverse while floating on provided innertubes. The current in the "river" is pretty strong, so little-ones should be watched at all times. The water was pretty warm, so no complaints from me on that department. Oh yeah, and one more thing...if you have little children who can't swim well and need to use floatation devices, make sure they're Coast Guard-approved life vests, because swim rings and floatees are not allowed in Caribbean Cove.
As for the slides, I was not allowed to ride them. Apparently there is a weight restriction that I was over. They need to post weight restrictions prominently throughout the park for larger guests like myself who didn't have time to look up that information when they check-in. Nowhere in the park (at least where I searched) does it say you have to be under 250lbs to ride the slides. It wasn't until we got back to our room that I saw it on the "Code of Conduct" sheet we were handed with our room keys. That's nice...I wouldn't have wasted my time coming here if I knew I couldn't do anything. Afterwards, we took our kids to the hotel pool to swim, which was more enjoyable because no one else was in it at the time.
In the end, the kids had a good time, but were ready to leave after 30 minutes. Nothing angers you more than knowing your kids are just as bored as you and you spent a lot of money for entertainment not delivered. I cannot and will not recommend this place to anyone. Its just not worth the money. Wait 2 years for the water park in Fishers to open. Otherwise, go somewhere else (like Great Wolf or Castaway Bay in Sandusky, OH).

Do NOT go to this place. It needs to be closed down. It is dangerous. Men walking around with guns. Cars getting broken into. Staff rude and unmoved. This is not a place you want to take children. Dirty and disgusting.

I am actually writting this while sitting in the water park. We have been here many times doing stay overs in the hotel and playing in the water park. This was a treat for my family at least once or twice a year. This was our local fun getaway considering we only live 10 minutes away. Now I'm sitting here extreamly disapointed and wishing I had picked anything else for my sons birthday party. The water is cold. The hot tub is as warm as the pool should be. One of the two hot tub areas is closed for repairs. Many parts on the kids play area are broken. The lazy river is standing water. The pumps seem to be not working. The water falls are broken and there is trash everywhere. My wife and I both noticed that they had raised some chemical in the water because our faces are burning. When we called 2 weeks ago to set our time here it was one price, the person on the phone said there was no need to set anything up. When we got here, the price had gone up $5 a person. That cost us $30 dollars more at the door. When we brought it up at the counter, they said they just raised the price. We had planned on spending about 6 hours here, but now we are considering taking our loss and seeing if we can save some of our sons birthday. I'm left asking what happened and if I will ever return.

Thank you for your response. All areas of our 50,000 sq ft Indoor Water Park are running properly. Our Water Park admission prices do vary throughout the year but prices are listed on our website.

This place is soooo nasty! My hubby & I took my daughter here for her birthday. We purchased a birthday package, & rented a room the night before. I was in the room for about 40 mins. We were eating pizza, & watching TV. We about died, bc German cockroaches were coming out of the wall. They were everywhere, crawling out from behind a pic, etc. My husband said, for this hotel to have all these cockroaches ESP with the lights on there are BIG problems here. My husband is a local physician, & paid for his medical school by working as an exterminator. So my husband identified the bugs as German cockroaches. Then showed me the nymps (babies) that couldn't hitch a ride on luggage they had been born in the walls of the hotel.
We also had our newborn daughter that was only a week old
with us. We wanted out of this nasty hotel ASAP. I went down stairs, & asked for a refund. Not 1 person working was able to issue a refund. I stood there for over an hour while my kids & hubby were sitting in the car. The staff had the audacity to accuse me of bring in the cockroaches. I was pissed, I had just had a c-section, & suppose to be in bed. Yet I'm standing in the lobby telling the asst manager that the cockroaches were born in the walls. Then they said other prob brought them in, & they can't help it. No one cared. I was explaining this alarming cockroach situation & they just kept blowing me off.
I was very disappointed!! A local place I could take my kids for a local get-a-way, & management would careless about the disease infested cockroaches. I work in corp America, & I was so upset I think I told everyone I knew about this nasty place. I can't count on my hand & feet how many people told me nasty stories about this place too. STAY AWAY!!! Nasty!!!!

We planned our Indiana spring break to include their water park. We spoke with a hotel employee after seeing hours of operation on their website verified ticket information, etc. We then drove 2 hours there only to be told that their attendant and website were incorrect and they are not open. We pulled up calendar hours immediately on our phone showing them and the manager Tiffany just said "Yeah, that's wrong we will have to have someone take it down." My daughter was crying and I asked for the general manager. Tiffany just gave me the number for a general manager Robert West 317-871-5600 who's voicemail states he is on leave for 2 weeks and you can't leave a message but can be directed back to Tiffany who can help NOBODY and do NOTHING!! We drove 2 hours and not even an apology. When I asked Tiffany how she planned to make this experience right she said "Nothing can be done." Nothing after 2 hour drive, child standing there crying, no apology, nothing!!! I will report to BBB and will tell everyone I know about this horrible experience!!!! Please call this GM in 2 weeks if you were disappointed too!!!

This hotel is terrible. There was no heat, the water park and hallways were freezing. The elevators sounded and looked awful. The toilet in our room did not work. When we brought it to the attention of the front desk they just said would you like to check out. They did give us our money back. We took our money and drove to Lafayette Indiana to the great water park there.

We're still here trying to decide whether to stay or drive home. Our television doesn't work, the heating unit sounds like we're on a submarine, so we will need to turn it off. We've asked for several hours for a blanket because there is none on the bed, and once we turn off the heater we will freeze. The toilet paper is sitting on the sink because the holder is broken. Despite us being very polite on the phone, the front desk has hung up on us repeatedly and a blanket has, supposedly, been coming for hours.

This place is DISGUSTING!! BROWN water and I'm not exaggerating! The entire pool area smells like urine... not even the slightest hint of chlorine. Half of the lockers don't work and you have to insert more quarters every time you want to open the locker. I'm AMAZED the board of health has not shut this place down yet. The metal support brackets that hold up the huge, heavy slides etc. are HEAVILY rusted... water leaking from everything and we pay $40 for this... absolutely disgusting and that's an understatement! STAY AWAY, stay far away! Just got home and had to right a review... now getting in the shower, which will hopefully get rid of the urine smell that I brought home with me.

My family and I stayed here right before the New Year. Once we had swam and were there a few hours we found there was no hot water. The very hard part, that shows their problem with customer service, was they knew when we were checking in that there was no hot running water in our room and DID not inform us, nor offer us a different room. Even when we later called down to ask about it. We later found out there was hot water in other parts of the hotel, and on other floors. The response was they were working on it. I had planned on exercising at some point, and was looking forward to the advertised LA Galaxy fitness room as shown on the website. Well fans, spoiler alert, there is no fitness room! False advertising there my friends. The water park did provide some fun for the kids, although the towels were the size of hand towels if you could find one, and the rides were getting old and rough to go down. Regular maintenance would be a good idea. The life guards all wore shoes and many were in pants! Really not sure if they would be ready to assist in an emergency! In all my life I have never seen a life guard on duty in tennis shoes and pants! There were no checks on the wrist bands and I am pretty sure it is regular for people to just come by for fun without paying for the day. As far as the help goes, I have never seen service where people worked so hard to appear busy, but never actually get anything done. For instance we saw a gentleman going to change a light bulb. he had the pole and light, he walked around all day and never switched the bulb. the hallways are very dirty with accumulated dirt and trash, plus they run no heat in the hallways, at least while we were there. Just a little to think about...

Why are folks still adding reviews when the place has been closed since 2015?
We are planning to celebrate a birthday here tomorrow, what should I bring along, I have never been to a water park. Thank you!

You may want to bring your own towels. The towels they have are only for hotel guests. They do not have life vests available. So if you have small children, you may want to bring a float or puddle jumper. If you are planning to count on them for anything like silverware or plates, I would confirm with them early to be sure they have it. They do have an arcade there to, so maybe bring extra cash. I wouldn't really know what else to bring. Just everything you need to swim :)

Is there an age restriction for the Playroom and are parents allowed to stay with the children? We will be traveling in April 2015 with a 3 year old & and 1 year old and I was wondering what sort of activities will be available to them?

Yes, you can stay with them. You want to make certain that you have shoes on their feet when they go into the water and any time you are walking around there. The place is nothing like it was even 10 years ago. It is filthy and unkempt. Good luck!
My family and I are looking at possibly making a reservation here but we will have to reserve 2 rooms because there are 5 of us and none of the rooms accomodate more than 4....Before I book anything I wanted to know more about the SCUBA packages offered. I see where there are dive and certification packages but are their just dive packages for individuals that are already certified?

Caribbean Cove doesn't offer diving that I'm aware. It's super small. We are a family of five and we always book a room for four and just pay extra for the fifth ticket.
