Pictures don't do the park justice. We were apprehensive about a State Park so close to a metro area and how young it is. Nice variety of lengths and difficulties of trails, density of wooded area surprising for its location. Don't forget the visitor center...More

Went there to walk and ride bikes. Beautiful area. There is a fee to get in the park most times unless you get there early or after 6. then sometimes there is no one at the gate.

Great place to escape the urban jungle with some great walking trails. My favorites are the Fall Creek Trail, Harrison Trace, and the Lawrence Creek Trail. Enjoy beautiful vistas of Falls Creek and Delaware Lake with lots of hills through dense woods.

This delightful park is out of sight and needs to be promoted more. The terrain and trails along Fall Creek are worth seeking out. Truly beautiful.

My father trained at Ft. Ben Harrison prior to his deployment to Europe in WWII. It was interesting for me to see where he trained, which is now a state park. Beautiful trails and in winter a great sledding hill. It's near the Army's main...More

Several good hiking trails within the park plus nice sledding in the winter. We have hiked Lawrence Creek trail many times. It's a nice loop with moderate incline and valleys.

Very nice park just outside downtown Indy. Perfect for those new to hiking or with small kids. Not a huge national forest where you can get lost for days, but some very nice loops. Lots of shade so it wasn't too hot (we visited in...More

Not really sure about a BBQ. There are places where you can grill and picnic near the pond but as far as bringing your own equipment and setting up a big BBQ...not sure. You will need to call the park.

Good evening, I am traveling to Westfield during summer 2017. What are the best hotels / rentals with kitchenettes? Does Fort Harrison State Park have picnic areas / grills? I appreciate any recommendations. Thank you.

There is a Residence Inn and Staybridge Suites just South of Westfield on US 31. The Staybridge Suites IMO is the nicer of the 2 and offers nightly manager's receptions. Ft. Harrison does have picnic areas and you will also find grills there.
